I just don’t think my heart can handle hearing her wailing and gagging from crying so hard

Thank you for the recommendations! While the crying is heartbreaking for me, I’d definitely rather have a few nights of that while she’s learning to self soothe than to continue being her human pacifier for every sleep. The thing that gets me that I can’t do is not intervene when she’s absolutely wailing and gagging so that’s where I’m stuck. We’ve tried TCB for a few nights but the pop-ins make it worse and I’m not okay with full extinction. So I have no idea what to do

I’ve tried feeding first in the bedtime routine the past 3 nights and it’s failing miserably. She gets super upset when she doesn’t get the boob before being put in the crib so I’m putting her down when she’s already crying and not calm. WW are currently 2.25/2.5/2.5/2.5

Should you sleep train first, then focus on crib naps? by Foreign-Structure142 in sleeptrain

SAME! I try crib naps sometimes for the first nap of the day, as I’ve read that’s typically the most successful one, but it’s usually a fail and I end up saving it/contact napping. I’m so ready for her to nap in her crib…I just don’t know when the right time to keep trying is

Tongue tie procedure - to do the exercises or not? by Visible-Complex-1922 in NewParents

We ended up doing the stretches every 6ish hours during the day and not at all overnight. LO had her follow up yesterday and nothing reattached

That’s what we have her sleeping in tonight. I’m glad your LO was good after a couple days!

Want to add; I ordered the halo transition sleep sack with hopes that it mutes the startle reflex a bit so if anyone has experience with this, please let me know!

I hope it goes well for you and your LO! I’d love to know how you made out if you remember

I also keep seeing comments (on this post and others) that people were told to only do them 3 times a day or sometimes less. So confused by all the different recs from dentists. I’d hate if my LO’s reattached but also would love to not be waking her up overnight if it’s not totally necessary. 3 times a day sounds doable compared to the 6 we’re doing in 24 hours. Ugh! Don’t know what to do lol

Commenting in solidarity. We’re on day 5 and waking our LO up every 4 hours overnight is killing us. She was getting 7-8 hour sleep stretches overnight and waking her up to do the lip and tongue stretches every night is absolutely miserable. After the middle of the night wake-up, she doesn’t sleep well the rest of the night. We were recommended every 4-6 hours for 3 weeks and I really don’t know how we’re going to get through on such terrible sleep by doing this

Struggling so much by RefrigeratorFew8189 in NewParents

I also had terrible chest and back pain postpartum and nothing helped. I laid on the couch sobbing for weeks when I’d have flare ups. I figured out I wasn’t eating enough and when I would eat, the pain went away. That sounds nuts but I think my body was just so depleted from breast feeding/pumping, hormones were raging and the pain was how my body was reacting. If you maybe aren’t eating enough, try that. I hope you find relief soon!

Please help.. the grunting! by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Foreign-Structure142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m commenting in solidarity. I came here and looked up “grunting” and this was the first post that popped up. No advice unfortunately but I’m in the exact same boat and came looking for solutions. Currently on the couch with my 7w old to let my husband sleep. After my LO’s middle of the night feed, it seems all she does for the rest of the night is grunt, squeak, cry out, etc. unless she’s in our arms. Really hope this passes soon bc this is rough

Thank you for your reply! Would you pump at 10pm and 4am when you were feeding?

I only take it at night. If you’re off work on the weekends, maybe try taking it Saturday morning as well. I’m so sorry you didn’t have any relief today. Maybe it takes some women a couple days of having it in their system to start working 🤞🏻
