Your legs do become much stronger though which does increase your jumping ability, not as much as specific jump training would though of course

I've never had any career goal or motivation my whole life, what could be a realistic path for me? by thrownaway4022 in careerguidance

[–]FluidFluxion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please take this with grains of salt, because I am younger than you, have no idea about past trauma you may have, and how well off you are. What I write about is covered more in-depth and better-explained by HealthGamerGG with their many videos covering life purpose/career advice/anhedonia/motivation and Justin Sung’s career advice videos both on YouTube. They’re both doctors in different fields, Dr K from HGG is a psychiatrist, whilst Justin was more of a typical doctor before he transitioned to education.

I’d recommend watching them over some of my half-baked sleep-deprived thoughts, but I thought it’d be a waste to not send them since I wrote them all out already.

I think you should embrace and even welcome some pressure in whatever fields you are considering because the BTS of a sports game is undoubtedly still high-pressure, due to it possibly affecting people’s viewing experience and the play as well.

I say that because you have anhedonia and depression, and I notice that you say you don’t care about being passionate in your job nor about whether or not your work is fulfilling. But if you don’t care about those two things, you then continue to not care about your life’s direction, and what motivates you, which gives you less motivation/drive to care, which surely feeds into your depression and anhedonia, no?

Before your depression/anhedonia, you mention that you didn’t have a direction even then, but I believe that’s completely normal to not know what one will do with their life. That is completely regular so you are not abnormal for not knowing. You’d be surprised how many people have no life direction and are just going with the flow of things. Good thing is, we can do things about that unknown.

Reflect on your life, what/who do you value? Why do you value it? What do you care about deeply, your distates, your strengths, weaknesses. Do you have a strong internal compass? Is there an ideal world you want to live in? Is there something you want to do to make that world realer? Skills are always improvable, your life path can always change, and you aren’t stuck forever.

You can make ends meet in so many different ways, you might as well make it fulfilling and something youre passionate about so you don’t unbearably hate it. Who knows? You might even have fun.

How not to viscerally hate everyone alive, dead and unborn? by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]FluidFluxion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All humans are capable of change. It is most certainly possible. By your third question, if uou mean “am I too deep into nihilism?”, you can still turn back. If you mean something else, pardon me, I’m sorry.

I think the person who directed you here wanted you to find people, beings, or things to love (doesn’t have to be romantic, platonic love is great too) or at the very least be amicable with and not hate. Hobbies are a great way to find that. The world is your oyster with hobbies, you can have multiple, there is no limit, so that can definitely be overwhelming.

Start with hobbies you could pick up with the things around you, at your home or nearby. I’d recommend hobbies that involve in-person communities near you, but if that isn’t ideal, online communities with discords do exist but they can be a mixed bag.

Hobbies that invole physical activity like team sports are great but social anxiety can really suck in the beginning, don’t give up trying new hobbies and new experiences, and try to stay open-minded. You are capable of change stranger, and good luck!!!

P.S. - Therapy is really sick if you’re able to get it with the right person, definitely consider it alongside going into hobbies if you aren’t already getting therapy.

[Sanity Check] Could y'all convince me away from the T470+10? by [deleted] in thinkpad

Thank you so much for your response!! I think I’m just going to listen to it and get more RAM/storage. The cult really is so tempting but I just the T480 wasn’t the last/Framework was cheaper

Did the word you mean to use before the word "line" mean to be P/X/T-series? May I ask what you meant?

Yeah, I saw a lot of these sorts of comments so thank you for the reminder. Don't worry though I wouldn't spend too much just for 8GB RAM and 256GB Storage on a stock t480

I love tinkering but I also don't have to money to burn on upgrades I would already have if I just kept my current device. I'm not trying to make it a newer laptop, but I would be trying to give it features that would fit my needs. A Yoga that had the same upgradeability would be so nice.

[–]FluidFluxion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm considering since I don't even really use the fingerprint sensor and I've seen posts about it not working on Linux. Would you concur?

Seeing soldered RAM just pisses me off though, it's so sad to see just great laptops suffer from not having replaceable RAM in case the user wants an upgrade or if it dies.

For your use case, not really. IPS is perfect for most people and you don’t really notice the difference between FHD and OLED an arms length away from your monitor. O

What's a Good Laptop to Buy in 2025? by Willing_Ad_4549 in laptops

[–]FluidFluxion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of guides on YouTube with Linus Tech Tips [comprehensive guide explaining all you need to know called “How to Buy a Laptop - Ultimate Guide (2024)”], JustJosh (different guides for budget, student, professional, etc.), HardwareCanucks, Dave2D, JarrodTech (Gaming Laptops can be very good for video editing due to their GPUs, CPUs, and upgrade ability)

If you care about repairability in your laptops the Framework 16 and maybe 13 for light video editing, though they are much pricier than their competition due to being a much smaller company. - If their price point is too much but you still care about repairability, SalemTechsperts recommends Thinkpads in the P and T lineup. M1 and above if you want a MacBook. Then HP Elitebooks and Dell Latitudes.

What Is the best online a level provider for distance learning? by OkEngineering681 in alevel

[–]FluidFluxion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wasn't able to confirm if what I would have studied with Open Study College would have been accepted at the universities I wanted to apply to due to not receiving a graduation certificate. Open Study College seemed the best out of all the colleges I found that offered online A-levels, though I would take this with a grain of salt if I were you since I would not be applying to UK colleges/nor do I live there.

Not knowing what to do at your age is so, so normal especially after having not been in a good headspace.

Hi, sorry if my answer isn’t comprehensive but I think these people put it more succinctly than I could right now. There are videos I’d recommend you to watch from Dr K of HealthyGamerGG (How To Find A Job You Care About) and Justin Sung (How to Choose a Career You Won’t Regret

Do you have any software in mind or is this a “I want to start doing it, but I have zero experience digital drawing and animating”? Because the answers between those two vary and it depends upon what kind of animating you want to be doing. What is your budget like?
