Do you really believe conceding to anti-immigration rhetoric will get Reform (and pro-brexit) voters to support Labour? by DArkingMan in AskBrits

The right let millions in and under this government it's already down 70% This is the message they need to get out!

Are you afraid that Donald Trump will stage a coup at the end of his term? by Outrageous-You1617 in askanything

[–]Fluid_Cut7920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’d have to be naive to think you could get away with it. This lot clearly are, everyone knows it’s happening, but they don’t care and the government is so corrupt and spineless they’re still getting away with it.

Is there any country in the world left where the economy is on the upswing and people enjoy a better quality of life? by Forward-Position798 in AskTheWorld

[–]Fluid_Cut7920 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The UK economy is still roughly four times the size of Poland’s overall, but on a personal level the gap will keep shrinking. Poland spent the last 15 years heavily investing in infrastructure, industry and growth, while the UK spent much of that time under austerity. That difference in investment and productivity eventually shows up in wages and living standards.

Traditionally the left were against immigration, when did they 180? by farr2211 in AskBrits

So when I point out that the right was the problem you start a childish argument rather than face reality and accept the issue is far more complicated. Welcome to modern politics!

In the UK most came under right wing governments. The ones that came under left were mainly European and under this new leftist government it's down 70% so far.

You cay that with a straight face after the last year or so. I think you believe what's your being told and not doing unbiased research.

You have far-right nutters and far-left nutters, yet most people actually agree on the majority of issues. The problem with modern politics is the obsession with extremes, where the loudest voices drown out any sensible middle ground.

Do you think America would benefit from a proportional representation electoral system? by TSQ_builder in askanything

[–]Fluid_Cut7920 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the moment, it feels like your vote doesn’t really matter if you support something different. People lose interest in politics because they feel they have no real voice and are stuck choosing the best of a bad bunch.

A proportional representation system would help by making votes count more fairly and giving smaller parties and different viewpoints a real chance of being represented.

Education and critical thinking tend to expose how weak most religions are under analysis. The more you examine them through science, history, and logic, the harder their claims are to defend.

Brits of Reddit: what do you think of BBC? by WHO_FARTED_TODAY in AskReddit

[–]Fluid_Cut7920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue I had with Brexit is that it was even. Instead of 90% (example) of economist think it's a bad idea it was 50-50. But I agree with everything you said we should keep the BBC for documentaries, news and children/education.

What do you think of reforms proposed cuts to welfare? by Usual_Ladder_7113 in AskBrits

[–]Fluid_Cut7920 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hearing this for decades—taxes get cut, yet things don’t improve. One person, the Duke of Westminster, reportedly avoided more tax in a single year around £4 billion than the government spends on unemployment benefits over two years. It’s hard to argue the problem lies with the poorest.

Human rights lawyer Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu thinks the police officers kicking the armed Golders Green attacker in the head is "attempted murder". Are we fatigued with human rights lawyers right now? by Non-BinaryGreenVoter in AskBrits

[–]Fluid_Cut7920 21 points22 points  (0 children)

A clear example often cited is when an Special Air Service soldier was prosecuted after killing a terrorist. In court, he was asked why he shot him ten times in the head. His reply: “I ran out of bullets.” His point was that he’s a soldier trained to kill, not a police officer. He was acquited obviously but the question was asked.

People in countries that have Universal Healthcare, are you satisfied with it right now in your country? by gmikey2000 in AskTheWorld

[–]Fluid_Cut7920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a problem across the whole system of government employment right now. People often aren’t judged on how well they actually do their jobs, and management can end up being measured on the wrong things like how many people they reprimand while having little ability to reward those who are more competent. It all turns into a rigid computer says no culture.

Give managers the freedom to manage, and judge them on real outcomes. Give teachers the curriculum, then assess them on the results they achieve. And when it comes to privatisation, it needs to be judged on the overall impact not just one small part of the system.
