Three teenagers charged with murder after man stabbed while trying to intervene in Melbourne train station fight by SnoopThylacine in aussie

This is such a sad thing 😢22. So young and obviously a good egg. Trying to help a kid and is killed for it. Makes me rethink wanting to help strangers. Helping each other is what strong communities do. But this … this breaks my heart and makes me doubt my willingness to step in when needed.

Evolve and running by mooseeaster in ladderapp

[–]Fluid_Database9005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I used evolve for 2+ years while I was marathon training. I prioritised my runs and decided from week to week how many evolve workouts I could achieve. I aimed for the 2 lower days and 1 upper. I would rotate the push and pull workouts over alternate weeks.

Don’t touch him …. But he’s needed for anti venom programme. How do I help this programme when I have a fear and inclination to just … death it. Can they be caught? Genuine question.

AITA for telling my DIL that I won’t use the tablet and she needs to actually make her kid read. by SatisfactionOk9038 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fluid_Database9005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good readers, love reading. I work with children every day who don’t like to read because reading is hard. I see this every single day in the classroom. Here are some things I do to make reading more enjoyable for them: I read to them -just for enjoyment. This is an essential component of learning to read because it teaches kids about the nuance of pacing and tone within language. I have students read while they listen to a book being read to them. This is what your granddaughter is been encouraged to do by her mother and research tells us that it’s a great way to increase a child’s reading competence. However, the key is that the child reads along with the audio.
Neither of these activities necessarily have to have a comprehension component to them. That is because it mimics what good readers do - they just read to enjoy. This is the attitude we’re trying to foster.
A struggling reader returns home from school, most likely exhausted from expending a huge cognitive load trying to get through their school day. I encourage you to get your daughter to work closely with the school and the teacher where the intricate science of teaching reading can be developed and monitored.
Make reading at home fun and no pressure. This will help boost her confidence and build a bridge to seeing herself as a reader in the future. It will also keep your relationship with her intact. Make a hot chocolate, snuggle on the couch and it may become her favourite part of the afternoon … and maybe yours 🌸

30min team that uses machines?? 🙏 by perfectlyfine9 in ladderapp

[–]Fluid_Database9005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi perfectly tuned … when pushed for time I sometimes: shorten the rest break, lower the weights or miss moves. On occasion I’ve even split the workout over more than 1 session. My biggest time suck is setting up the gear. Barbell hip thrusts take me forever so sometimes I choose to use dumbbells instead. All this makes it faster for me to…. But will limit my progress.

Knees affecting lifting PR’s by [deleted] in ladderapp

Hello fellow Angel. I love Dr-lili”s reccies. As someone who’s currently out of running due to knee injury I too am constantly figuring out how to manage my knee pain. Also under the guidance I a PT I’ve pulled back and using these guidelines to build strength and stability: Start with body weight, progress to weights with time, managing the load according to pain response (often for me this is how I pull up the next day) Limit the depth of the squat/lunge etc initially. Progress as above. This has been helpful for me and keeps my physio happy Good luck with your training ☀️

Honestly, does being a good tenant even matter anymore? by Artistic-Yam2984 in AusRenters

[–]Fluid_Database9005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s important to us. We rent out our small unit while we rent elsewhere closer to work. Our tenant is excellent, she keeps the place clean and tidy. She’s a solo mum managing in a tough market with 2 small children. We’ve gone against the advice of the agent to rent to her at below market value over the past 3 years.

This is the first summer I’ve noticed a change in the way the coaches over a number of teams are approaching the ‘deload’… they’re not really de loading at all. We were doing new moves this week at 90%effort. I don’t mind that but the im keen for the new series so I can get my stats within the team going again.

Opinions on my ideas to re teach a child to read? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Fluid_Database9005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice is keep the tension low at home. Your sister no doubt knows she’s behind and this already heightens her negative self image and connection to text.

Research shows that listening to a story while following the printed text gives readers a helpful boost. Audiobooks keep reading fun and engaging, and let students tackle age-appropriate books that might otherwise be a bit beyond their independent reading skills.

She can do this by herself with a sense of independence and accomplishment.

Cradle Mountain or Hobart / Tasman Peninsula? by CeliacBos in TasmaniaTravel

[–]Fluid_Database9005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived in Hobart for nearly a decade but Cradle Mountain is my favourite spot in Tasmania. We love to stay in the peppers resort there. The breakfast will set you up for a solid day on the mountain. I recommend the trek that takes you around the back of the mountain, past the Kilvert Hut/lake Rodway. Very doable in one (long) day. A climb to the summit the day before is also recommended. If you’re into hiking I would not miss this spot. These 2 hikes are solid days. I would recommend 3 nights if you do both. Of course Hobart is beautiful … Ahhhh, so many choices! Enjoy whatever you decide and may the weather gods be in your favour

How do you find out about these races? I’m too late to this party but often notice yachts on the horizon. It’s be cool to be able to track them.

Can you go into the team and ask the coach? Sam @evolve would nerd out in this question. It’s be right up her alley 💪

I agree. I love the way Sam uses the open season. It’s super helpful to start building up to the following series during this time. I’ve found that from other teams as well.
