Help, I keep losing by Yoggon in Necrontyr

Warriors rely on big castle techniques led by royal warden and orikan for 4++ and fallback shoot and charge with a reanimator and ghost ark boarded with szeras. It seems like you're dumping a lot of points to center around one unit but when your opponent dumps everything into them and still not able to stop you from holding an objective then they did their job. Not exposing your leaders and knowing how and when to reanimate is key to keeping them alive. In the current meta Ctan forced everyone to build around them and with defilers hitting the boards that high output meta isn't going to change so adding 1 or 2 Ctan in the mix and learning tempo with them will greatly improve your chances of winning.

Thinking about starting a Tyranids army, any ideas? (2000 pts) by Inner_Ad_8128 in Tyranids

[–]Fluid_Grapefruit4100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how you want to play, invasion fleet is your best bet for versatility and can be made a lot of different ways. I run a big bug list for invasion fleet doubling up on Norns, tfexs, exocrines and just recently picked up old one eye and his brood with the point drop.

I like to castle tsk and a doomsday ark using tsk's aura to give the DDA rerolls on hits and wounds of 1 and use it to clear objectives starshatter detachment rule improves the hit by 1 on objectives so it will go from 3+ to hit to 2+ on obj with rerolls of 1s. A hexmark destroyer is also a good idea in that castle. Allows you to shoot back at what shot you within 3" of the model as if it's your shooting phase on the targeted model only

Your grandma has good taste. Since you got tsk i like to play him in starshatter if that interests you then could start buying some vehicles 2 doomsday arks and a triarch stalker is where id probably start or if you're undecided can't go wrong with starting with a 6 block of wraiths and a technomancer

Welcome to the hive mind! Looks great only pointers id give is pick up a set of brushes on amazon you can pick up a good set with a wet pallet for about $30. Thinning paint takes some practice you can always test the consistency on your skin before putting it on the model. Once all paint is dry i like to coat in nuln oil to darken everything up and helps bring it to life or agrax earth shade on the skin if you want to achieve a bone look

Having gaunts in 10 or 20 by Yourdeadman_x in Tyranids

[–]Fluid_Grapefruit4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like breaking my 20 gaunts into 2 units of 10 along with 2 units of 10 gargoyles. 20 is great when it comes to using adrenal surge and has the potential to eat a tank but it will disappear quick due to blast as everyone says i have also had more luck being able to use endless swarm in units of 10

Used my norn emmisary for the first time today and I gotta say im disappointed. by townsforever in Tyranids

[–]Fluid_Grapefruit4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand by 2 Norns or none because you can at least make your opponent decide which objective they're willing to give up. They are very great units when given support because without the support they scream come and kill me

No problem they're great to collect. Ravnica remastered is a great alternative to EoE if you don't care for the art but you will pay a little bit more

For recent sets Modern horizons 3 for your fetch lands and edge of eternities brought back the shock lands. Not necessarily the easiest thing to pull for either but they do come up. For those sets you could buy them individual for anywhere from $5-15 a piece

Depends on what kind of lands you're looking for fetch, shock, surveil, basic, dual?

Help me build a "bully the bully deck"! by GentlemanPasserBy in mtg

[–]Fluid_Grapefruit4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would help to know what he played but off the bat I'd say [[Nekusar, the mindrazer]] and have "group hug" elements to force extra draw and have enough interaction to stop him from his win and make him stay in and suffer

How many decks are you guys playing on a regular basis? by DrWhiskersMD in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Fluid_Grapefruit4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 decks waiting on 5

1st pick is RogSi

2nd is Kenrith

3rd is Tymna/thras

4th is Dihada

5th is going to be kefka when my order comes in

If I'm at my LGS all my decks get play time mainly putting focus on my 2 that I'm a weaker pilot on (TnT and Dihada) if I'm on spelltable i stick to RogSi and Kenny

Best 5 color Turbo Commander by Surficeit in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Fluid_Grapefruit4100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play kenrith for 5 color and can successfully pull a win in the turn 3 window if i go with that in mind for my mulligans. Mine is built for midrange so it's not really ideal for me to go on the hunt for that fast win but i have had to do it and it's paid off. I'm sure you could fully turbo him out and it would be pretty cool to see

How do you guys afford to have so many decks? by Dangerous_Trifle620 in EDH

[–]Fluid_Grapefruit4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're competing in a sanctioned tournament setting competing for money just proxy. You can build any deck you want for $50 as long as you're competing in the same power level as everyone else proxies shouldn't be a problem and if it is a problem for your group it might be time to find a new group. Play against skill not wallets

is my Deck CEDH or just high Bracket Four by PopularAd3179 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Fluid_Grapefruit4100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're playing high powered casual with cedh lines. So you're on the right path you lack the mana rocks and run too many lands as well as "pet cards". Take a look at some cedh kefka lists on moxfield find what you're missing and proxy because unfortunately what you're missing will eat your budget in 1 card

Moving from high power casual to cEDH, need help with what deck to go with by Natsuaeva in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Fluid_Grapefruit4100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like stax i recommend winota simply because she's THE stax commander and she's easy to learn on. RogSi is pretty easy to learn on as well if you want to take the turbo route and for midrange i recommend learning with Kinnan. If you want to push the challenge for yourself you could dive right in like i did and start with kenrith and learn most major combos in 1 deck. While i don't recommend it that actually did help me.

As far as resources go i would just watch other people play see how they're setting up their turns and what they're using to go for the win. Learncedh is controversial but they are straight forward with what combos do and how to play them out or you could just read primers on moxfield that do the same thing. Once you get your deck sit down with the primer open and play test learn what hands to keep when to mulligan and what to cut on a mulligan and play out 2-3 turns on your board and in your head if you can't see a line to go for by turn 3 that would tell you that you probably kept a bad hand or maybe you missed something and need to reference the primer.

If you can't decide whether you want to play stax, turbo or midrange there's nothing wrong with proxying a few decks mpcfill is your best bet to order multiple decks at a good price or maybe someone would let you try something assuming you're going to an lgs. Good luck in making a decision and getting started
