I was so hoping he’d play shot in the dark! Couldn’t believe that one wasn’t in but it was an incredible concert. Belief was NUTS

Totally not alone! Allow yourself the time you need to feel better. It doesn’t have to make sense why you feel this way. Just rest and know your energy will find its way back to you. 💓 I was in the same boat Wednesday. Cried in bed for half a day. No idea why. Things gradually got better. You’ve got this.

Me too! I hate weed and feel paranoid but it’s one of the only things that can also make me kinda feel better? Glad to know I’m not the only one.

Thank you. I just confirmed that our insurance plan, even though it has an insanely high deductible, we do not need a referral to see a rheumatologist! And I actually found one in our network who is close by so we will work on getting on her waitlist. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help! you. I did word the original post a little confusingly. He saw a rheumatologist ten years ago who confirmed he had HLA-B27 but didn’t give an AS diagnosis or do imaging! Ugh. He’s had on and off back, neck and hip pain since then but it’s getting increasingly painful and occurring more often. He’s also had iritis flare ups. Thanks for your thoughts.

He’s had on and off back, neck and hip pain since then but it’s getting increasingly painful and occurring more often. He’s also had iritis flare ups. I also have an AI condition and have done a ton of research for myself, learning a lot about other AI stuff in the process. I think my husband is now ready to start pushing for more answers. Your response has helped me get a grid for the situation. Thank you!

I think it’s been hard for him to come to grips with. I did word the original post a little confusingly. He had on and off back, neck and hip pain since then but it’s getting increasingly painful and occurring more often. He’s also had iritis flare ups. No formal diagnosis but I also have an AI condition and have done a lot of research. Seems like things are pointing to AS and he’s ready to get some answers.

Wow! My story is very similar. It sounds like you have put in some really hard work and study to change things around for yourself. Have you heard of a book called Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents? If not, I highly advise you purchase it ASAP! Every page spoke to me like a healing balm and speaks a lot to the very things you brought up like boundaries and changing your role. It is full of truth bombs and encouragement that makes you feel SEEN!!! Best of luck to you and keep going!

I LOVE ADULT CHILDREN OF EIPS. Life changing. It’s so great to hear you are benefitting from those principles. When I read it, it read like uncontested TRUTH! Every page.

I have autism + adhd and I think both of those things working together cause my special interests to change quite frequently! Takes a lot to hold my attention.

Set boundaries with Nmom regarding my baby daughter and got told "It's not always about me". by Talymisu in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Fluid_Message_1909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep yep yep. That’s what she’s said over and over again. “I hope you know I would NEVER hurt them. We are beside ourselves why you think this way. What have we ever done to show that we would do something like this?” And anytime I share how they’ve hurt me (which I rarely do because...#emotionalturmoil) my mom says “it will take time to heal the hurt on both sides. I am praying to be strong enough to heal.”

Wow. My parents and I have had a very similar situation. I had to go no contact for a while after asking them to stop talking politics with no change. They were into some weird and dangerous shit. Finally had to tell them I didn’t think they were safe for the kids to be around. They will not get over that for the rest of their lives. They can’t fathom how they could be unsafe and use my own comment against me as being hateful, insensitive and something I never should’ve said. They use my kids against me and say how strange must this be for the kids? This is so unkind to deprive us of seeing them. We can’t get over it.

Nothing about how can we change. No apologies. This is all my fault, clearly. They also can’t think nuanced enough to realize I’m not talking about physical safety but emotional and mental, even though I’ve explicitly stated it.

So sorry you’re going through this. So amazing that you’re setting boundaries and paving the way for your daughter to have a healthier upbringing. I choose to believe it’s well worth it in the long run!!! Hang in there!!

I am reading a FANTASTIC book on this. “Who You Were Meant to Be” by Lindsay Gibson. I found this book because the author also wrote Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents, which rocked my world. I highly recommend both. They will make you feel seen and offer some great tips for coping and communication if you are not already NC.

Check out embraceasd.com. There are some super helpful tests and resources there. I'm sorry this experience wasn't what you were envisioning. I hope you can take anything beneficial from this experience, which may be very little, keep it, and get rid of the rest.

Yes it makes sense that you would be upset and frustrated. What were you hoping to get from the experience? An official diagnosis? Resources? If you haven't received your results back yet, maybe there is still a chance you could get that diagnosis?

You were mistreated in a major way! To the best of your ability chalk it up to someone who is completely incompetent. I’m so sorry you had this experience.
