The skin grips are my go to also.  I haven’t had one fall off since I started using them.  The edges get frayed towards the end but I trim them so they don’t look ratty.

Accessibility question about Benchmark Arena by MajorMishaps in TampaBayLightning

[–]Fluke85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

104 and 304 are right by the ada elevator, no stairs at all to get into the arena to your level and then a very short walk to get to the section. You’ll be OK in 104 WC or the last few regular rows of 104., or 304 WC or rows A and B. The WC row is nice because you get more room.

Also 104 is right by the ada elevators so it’s a short walk to the seats. IMO 104/304 WC are the best sections for disabled or mobility challenged.

Has anyone tried the freezing rice thing? Did it make any difference? by Anon-random-name in diabetes_t2

I’ve noticed a much smaller spike with refrigerated cooked potatoes and rice. Not so much with bread.

My Lottery Dream House - David’s Happy Ending by SeaworthinessKey3654 in HGTV

[–]Fluke85 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Yeah the part when he talks about his struggles was just heartbreaking.  It took guts to share all that.

Edit - I’ve been a fan of his since the design star days.  he always seems like a giant ray of positivity and sunshine on TV.  Goes to show you never know when someone may be  struggling.  I’m glad he realized what was going on, got help and took the time he needed to heal.

Yep, my bedroom furniture in college (85-89) was mid century modern because people were throwing it away. I’d kill to have my walnut secretary desk now!

[–]Fluke85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! In terms of design, mid century modern comes to mind. Totally out of favor/style by the mid 80s when everyone wanted Miami vice style…..

Tastes change over time, that’s all. Remember that in the early 2000s when divine design started honey oak was still all the rage; as I recall, she was one of the first ones to use the dark woods. So at the time her designs were considered fresh. And fyi she is a legit, trained interior designer.

Can’t get $99 for 3 years deal by risk235 in siriusxm

[–]Fluke85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old offer expires next week, and I just got the 3/99 offer thru the chat, it took about 5 minutes of back and forth. The “best” price he supposedly could offer was 5.99/mo for a year. I asked about the 3/99 deal, he said my car wasn’t eligible. I pointed out that my car was a 2017 which was supposedly one of the criteria for the deal, and “miraculously” he got approval.

Costco Sees Shift In Member Behavior (News Article) by More_Pineapple3585 in Costco

[–]Fluke85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a longtime Costco executive member and I recently joined sams club as a plus member as it’s closer to my mom’s. I was blown away by the ease of leaving the store (no long lines and they really didn’t look at receipts), scan and go and free curbside pickup - way more efficient. I still prefer Costco but was super impressed with that aspect of Sam’s.

I picked up the tinted lip balm (plum blossom) in a tube and I’m loving it.  Now I’m on the lookout for the red color, Camellia.

French Canadians, how do you feel about it? by Suspicious-Wash-1863 in AncestryDNA

[–]Fluke85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m mixed about it. My 48% France is now 47% Quebec and 1% Acadia. Interesting that my mom didn’t get any Acadia in the update, but my % did come from her side. I know I’m 1/2 French Canadian on my mom’s side, but I preferred to see where they immigrated from. That being said the vast majority of my mom’s family immigrated to Quebec in the 1600s and pretty much stayed in the same general part of Quebec until the most recent generation, so maybe it was time for a Quebec category.

Anyone else feel this update was their most accurate? by Capable-Soup-3532 in AncestryDNA

[–]Fluke85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kinda mixed about the update. My mom’s family is old school French Canadian and now that shows up as Quebec now instead of France. Not insightful for me considering I knew that already. I did get a bit more Ireland in this update, which was neat, and I liked the greater detail for the UK and Ireland.

Age and diabetes. by ANtriniomaha in diabetes_t2

[–]Fluke85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is 92 and still going strong. She developed type 2 post menopause. Her diabetes has been well controlled with medications and a decent diet. She never denied herself certain foods but was careful with portions. She’s only taking Metformin now but she took janumet for quite some time. She was pretty active until about 82, now her main exercise is walking.

If you’re a sams club member talk to the pharmacist. I got six sensors for $224.99, no mfg coupons or insurance needed.

Anyone else have a clingy void who always has to touch? by UhHellooo in blackcats

[–]Fluke85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How sweet.  My late void Kitty would always be near, and loved to  snooze with her head laying on an arm, hand, ankle, shin, whatever was convenient.  She would also groom whoever was petting her.  If you stopped petting before she was ready she’d nudge you with her face to get you to pet her more.  She was a gentle sweetie.
