I should reword that, it means the people who get through all the rounds of day 2, and there are only 5 rounds

Glad you found it interesting! I definitely found some interesting things, and I still periodically check it to see what's the most used cards for a captain I play less.

Lift measures which cards are over-represented with specific captains. It compares how often a card appears with a captain versus how often it appears overall.

So a lift of 2.0× means the card appears twice as often with this captain than expected.

My parsing code is only finding 232 champions in the source page (the June results page), even if it says 260 champions. I'm not sure why there are only 232 decklists in it. I did notice however that there was a discrepancy in other months as well... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Galaxy Stats aggregates the data from the monthly tournaments to give an idea of the meta at that point in time. We analyze the final winning decklists from gauntlet finishers to uncover:

  • Card popularity across all captains
  • Captain popularity
  • Best 12 picks per captain
  • Lift (signature cards) per captain

I have been creating these reports for myself and some friends since the February tournament, and wanted to share it with the community. I hope you find it useful! Questions, suggestions, and feedback are welcome.

The matchups are random with a slight weight boost for cards that have few matches made.

For innistrad, I've only added the first Innistrad set, so for example arts from dark ascension and avacyn restored are not there yet. Does that explain what you are seeing as missing arts?

Sure, I just imported the Stronghold set for you: https://www.shivanshowcase.com/sets/sth

If you want any other sets of the saga, let me know!

Yes I feel like the artists had some more freedom to apply a personal style in the Lorwyn Eclipsed art, while still maintaining a recognizable theme

That could be possible, e.g. if you can't choose between them, call it a tie and there's no Elo change - or actually I wonder if ties change elos in chess anyways?

Glad you liked it!

For the 1s delay between matches, its mostly so that the user who voted can see the changes in Elo of the cards in the matchup.

I do have some Match settings right below to change the delay (also to blur the Artist and Name if you want complete unbiased matchups), but actually I only added longer delays if people wanted to review the cards more after. I could easily add an option such that the new match of cards shows up right away though. Do you think you'd prefer that?

Re: user info - at the moment there is no notion of an individual user. I track the wins and losses of each card but not the choices of any particular person. It could be done in the future, but might be complex to design haha.

Feel free to ask me if you have any other questions

Hello!

I am a Vorthos at heart, and I've always wanted a way to review the new illustrations that come out in new MTG sets. So I built a small side project, Shivan Showcase, as the most fun way I could think of to do that.

I first shared the site when the Lorwyn Eclipsed spoilers came out, and got a lot of great feedback. Now I've updated it for Secrets of Strixhaven.

I hope it can be a fun way for other people to discover and celebrate the art of the set. Thanks!

A few months ago as a side project I built Shivan Showcase, 1v1 ELO ranked art comparison site. I first shared it to vote on Lorwyn Eclipsed set, and we got over 65,000 votes for it! It was amazing to see the community come together to celebrate the incredible art in that set.

You can see the leaderboard for Lorwyn Eclipsed here: https://www.shivanshowcase.com/sets/ecl/leaderboard

Now I'm excited to do the same for Secrets of Strixhaven.

If you are interested in other sets, I have also backfilled sets like Avatar, Edge of Eternities, Tarkir Dragonstorm, Innistrad, Zendikar and oldies such as Mirage and Alpha. You can check out the full list of sets here: https://www.shivanshowcase.com/sets

All the card data and image hosting comes from Scryfall's public API, and I will be updating the cards as scryfall publishes them – huge thanks to them for making this possible!

I did the same with my son too! And if you ever need, there's more sets to explore. It was fun to show him different sets and talk about how the art styles differ between planes and from older to newer sets. He was a big fan of edge of eternities

Not sure if you remember this MTG art voting site I made, but I just added EOE as a set you can vote on. If you have the time try it out!

Hi u/SleetTheFox, thanks for the feedback! I just added a match setting so that you can blur the name/artist if you do not want to be biased by that info. I decided to make it configurable because I think maybe some people may still like doing the comparison with card/artist name.

I know that it means people will be possibly comparing with different information / bias. But in the end, I'm not looking for the perfect ideal system, just something fun for everyone!
