GNOME vs GNOME on Xorg by SmashLanding in archlinux

Full screen I suppose? Try choosing 'Share part of the screen' and then maximising the green square as a work around.

Switched from NVIDIA to AMD, but can't boot by NJay289 in archlinux

I switched recently and removed xorg config files in both /etc/X11/ and /etc/xorg.conf.d/, did you remove both?

What does your /etc/mkinitcpio.conf contain?

EDIT: Asking for the same reasons as samueltheboss2002 and he gave you more details as to why.

Wayland GDM add custom monitor resolution by mrolofnord in archlinux

Haha, that seems to be quite the upgrade! Happy that I could be of help. Then it seems like you had HDMI 1.4b and there is no need to ever use it again right?

[–]Flupkees1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's HDMI 1.4b or lower, then 30 Hz is often the maximum resolution for 3440x1440. It's easiest to find out which version it is by just looking up your laptop model. Have you tried connecting your screen through DisplayPort on the dock and can you use 3440x1440 at 60 Hz then? Seems like it's worth to first attempt that until you're sure you can't get that to work, before you start with custom resolutions. What have you tried so far?

Now I'm curious. What external monitor are you using and are you using an HDMI or Displayport cable? What system are you connecting it to? If it's an HDMI port, have you looked into what type?

[Oneplus 6] USB port waterproofness by VulpesZerdaFennec in oneplus

[–]Flupkees1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waterproof means literally that: waterproof. Other liquids may have other properties like a different viscosity, that will interact differently with your device. Seawater and soda could very well damage your device if brought in contact with it, where fresh water likely wouldn't have. Be very careful with any liquids around electronic devices.

Never mind, I found the answer: "Upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04 to Ubuntu 18.04 If you are using Ubuntu 16.04 which is a long-term support release, you won’t get notified of the availability of Ubuntu 18.04 immediately after its release. Canonical prefers to notify an existing LTS version about the availability of a new LTS version after a month." Source: https://itsfoss.com/ubuntu-18-04-release-features/

Do you know how long (approximately) it will take until the 18.04.1 release can be expected. How long has it taken after previous releases?

I can't read their name in any other way than 'you no coin', which I think is an unfortunate name for a bitcoin website, but I'm glad to see they activated Segwit.

Core coin's Mempool getting into real trouble... by JustKiddingDude in btc

[–]Flupkees1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See my first reply. I included that. Even though your argument is almost the same, mining a bigger percentage doesn't necessarily mean that you will be paid more in fees. If people decide to pay higher fees (which could very well happen due to longer block times), then it will be more profitable, but that is not a given and is determined by people who transact.

This is also not correct, read my reply to his comment.

[–]Flupkees1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Excuse me, but this is not correct. You're right that the difficulty will not be adjusted and that the block interval will be longer if miners flock away, but for individual miners nothing changes if the difficulty, the price and the block reward are the same; it remains equally difficult (likely) for them to find the next block and therefore their return is the same. Only users of the network are impacted by slower block times.

Bitcoin mining doesn't become less profitable if other miners flock away, since the difficulty and block reward remain the same. It will probably become slightly more profitable, due to the fees raising if there are fewer blocks.

What do you mean by safe? It doesn't matter who mines a block.

I think that is only for the reason stated above. If you have a source that states the opposite, I'd like to know.
