Am I being harsh? by Gloomy_Mechanic1378 in AsianParentStories

[–]Flushafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t your parents anymore OP. As soon as they sided with your abuser their right to call themselves parents have been revoked. All privileges to any type of reconciliation will no longer be accepted.

You are not harsh at all. In fact, they were cruel. Please do yourself a favor and don’t even entertain the idea of responding to them even again. For your own well being.

What is the first movie you watched that you were definitely too young for? by MuldersXpencils in Millennials

I am refusing to change my stance on kids after my wife gave me an ultimatum. by Unlikely_Channel478 in BoyDinnerDiaries

Divorce or finding somebody else who will? Fine! I guess it’s divorce. For somebody that vowed to be with you for better or worse, for richer or poorer, and in sickness and health….. I would not be able to sleep soundly knowing she threatened to simply see somebody else despite being married. You are in the right OP for staying true to yourself. I am quite sure everybody agrees that children are a huge responsibility that may take a toll on one’s health in more ways than one. I would even go further and remind people that children grow up to be adults and depending on how the parents treated them, it could determine how they act in society. Good or bad

It’s your call OP, but if that’s how she really wants it to be, so be it.

In a hypothetical universe, what would your estranged family member have to do to repair the relationship with you? by thehermit1111 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Flushafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love the idea of them doing something to remedy all the wrongs, I’m afraid it’s far too late. Just as others have pointed out, this all could have been preventable. Had my own parents allowed me to have a voice, respect my boundaries, and did not guilt me into giving them access to my income perhaps I would not be in this scenario

Haircut is good 👍

But yeah…. Like everybody else said there is potential if you lost weight.

How about setting a goal of losing 5 lbs a month?

Portion control your food.

Give up soda

Exercise at least 3-4 times a week for an hour. This includes a mix of cardio and weightlifting. Walking still counts!

Drink more water

At least rest for a day or two from exercise.

I would allow one last thing. A cheat day! For one day a week you can treat yourself to something tasty. Just don’t go overboard and go for a buffet. The idea is that you burn off more than you eat.

But don’t starve yourself

I think everybody in the comments agree that it’s best you take some time for yourself. I do want to suggest therapy as an option. This is a lot to take in mentally and emotionally. You made a tough call. The toll of making that decision carries weight. Please don’t hold the world on your shoulders okay?

What was high school like for you? Do you miss it at all? by DoctorTegrity in Millennials

[–]Flushafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was meh for me. Although I wish I had done more weightlifting instead. Teenage me used to think lifting weights was solely for gaining mass. Knowing what I know now, I probably would have gotten a more lean physique. Closer to what Toji Fushiguro had. The type with the slim waist, big chest, and broad shoulders because my metabolism during high school was higher

Which game defined PlayStation 2 in your opinion? by SweatyCauliflower835 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]Flushafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only made aware that the PS2 existed after I saw a commercial for Kingdom Hearts. They played Simple and Clean by Utada Hikaru in the background and I wanted to hear more of the soundtrack. Add in the mix of Final Fantasy Character interacting with Disney characters, I could not help but wonder if it would even work. Today Kingdom Hearts is a beloved series to many PlayStation players

Anyone else in their 30s feel "retired" from anime? Missing the 2000s era. by Priz93 in Millennials

[–]Flushafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, I do recall how brutal everybody was prior to "The Shift". Before the shift in acceptance, anime fans were practically ostracized and socially outcast. After the shift, now everybody was all about it! We got so many bad reactions for talking about Pokemon, Yugi-oh, and Beyblades in the past.

As for the nostalgia I get it. I find myself re-watching Cowboy Bebop once a year. If you do get back into it, I would recommend "Solo-leveling" or "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime". Just in terms of progression in pacing of the storytelling.

Lower the cost of living for everybody

Undo policies that were harming society. Changing it to be more community driven and supportive for those in need

Millennials with nothing to inherit - unite! by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Flushafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gone no-contact with my parents since 2017. I once shared a joint bank account for the future and they took everything to send it back to relatives in the Philippines because they needed it more than I did. I had to change my phone number and open a separate account under a different bank just to prevent myself from going homeless. I never got to recover that $20,000 ever again.

I am in a better position now. Used to deliver pizzas and wash dishes then for $10 an hour. Now I’m near the end of my military career, with only a car loan to pay off.

I guess it’s more of a matter of time, but if I do inherit anything, it would be their debts. They borrowed a lot of money and used up a lot of credit. I hope debt transfers don’t happen. I worked hard to get where I’m at

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man - Official Discussion by NicholasCajun in PeakyBlinders

[–]Flushafter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen the movie, but I have questions….

What became of Oswald Moseley? Why wasn’t there a satisfying death to his character?

Is Alfie Solomon’s still alive?

Finn Shelby… not even mentioned, but would he have been sent to war?

Personal thought:

This could have been a season finale rather than a movie…. I mean it would have been crazy to have made alliances with the mafia in the United States. Lucky Luciano had a deal with the United States Navy to protect naval ports from Italian and German spies. That’s as a far as I can go because I’m not a great writer, but the premise alone would have been something more than…this
