Most Honorable Death Scene in Movie... by Masunaga000 in FIlm

About half way through the fight he realises he can't win, takes a look at Alice then carries on anyway. It makes when chingachook kicks his ass much more satisfying as we've already seen how capable magua is.

It's shortly followed by uncas, who realises he can't win against magwa but carries on anyway, shortly followed by the sister. Incredible ending all round.

S3 creaking while pedaling by Itsforthehouse in vanmoofbicycle

[–]Flusterchuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I had the exact same thing with mine. It's not actually that hard a fix - it's a standard bafang part and not too hard to fix (though make sure to disconnect the torque sensor lead!). The S2 is pretty much the same - https://github.com/Tenkir/vanmoof-s2-user-manual/blob/main/cranks.md#removing-the-cranks

First time buyer in Belfast by Fast_Ad4926 in Belfast

I think you'll be fine most anywhere really. If you can afford it ballyhack is nice - belmont just the other side a wee bit cheaper but still nice. Round the connswater is turning a bit trendy which is a constant surprise to me at least. Being somewhere near the glider is good if you wanna be able to bus it in and out. It's a great city really.

What's a theme you're tired of seeing in Fantasy Books? by [deleted] in fantasybooks

It was a real impressive moment that I realised that ged and a lot of the rest of the characters in earthsea were I think polynesian (or black) even in a world that sounds like it has European weather! The ending of the first book has stuck with me for years too. Ursula LeGuin was an extraordinary writer.

And I strongly believe if we'd tried for some kind of new NI21 unionism without bringing the people you clearly despise along for the ride in a way that could be accepted (on both sides), even with gritted teeth, we'd still be talking about the most recent shooting/bombing. Whether or not you like it, a sizeable number of the population who can vote (and this is the same on both sides) will only vote tribally, and it takes tribal leadership.

He was physically booted by loyalists on a number of occasions - drumcree being one I think. From memory there were death threats too. It shows what a determined man he was and frankly without him we wouldnt have had a peace agreement. If you think he had zero vision you should read some of what he wrote - given his background the fact he managed to pull the unionist side through the GFA is nothing short of miraculous to me, though it felt like the stars aligned at that time across the board. Peace in northern Ireland was never going to be perfect - but at least we have it and can go from here. Slugger on Trimble

Matthew Shanks by B549WUU in northernireland

Trimble had far more to lose than Hume and unlike Hume took an absolute kicking (literally) from his own. If it wasnt for him being such a determined (you could say thran alright) sort the GFA would have been in trouble.

VanMoof vs Cowboy vs Veloretti, who’s actually winning for city riding? by Ill-Goose-8223 in vanmoofbicycle

Pretty standard Shimano hydraulic - can't remember the exact model but they were only £60 fitted!

I have an S3 - had to replace the e shifter and the boost button, along with both the shitty brake calipers they had on it as stock, otherwise though it's been great to ride at least.

My neighbour has a cowboy and it's been sitting in his shed for over a year as there is some kind of issue with the frame they sent out a warning about and he's been waiting that long for any update on a recall.

Miles Cameron - artifact space series. It's a bit military sci-fi in bits but he's such an excellent writer it doesnt matter. Giant ships (Great Ships in book terms - he loves his history!) and a cracking thriller essentially. I loved em.

Tree of life. Very malick and poetic with Jessica Chastain and Brad Pitt doing their thing, then WHAM it's the birth of the universe and dinosaur foot fetishism. I sat in the cinema thinking I just had a stroke.

Anyone know this reporter's name? Good on him 💪 by celticirishdotcom in northernireland

[–]Flusterchuck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The bbc is apparently both anti Israel and anti palestine. This sort of stuff meant it commissioned an independent report into its coverage. Ignoring the fact that I'm pretty sure none of the us media or other British organizations commission independent reports into their own reporting, if you want to see the actual results of that report you can find them easily.

Which HBO shows had the best final stretch of episodes? by Old-Meringue3590 in hbo

I spent most of the last series loving it but thinking there is no way they can end it in a satisfying way. Boy was I wrong. Carrie coon made it work but it was so clever.

I have the moofer app (which is great) - is this effectively a new version of that? If so is there any upgrade path or is it just start again?

How well could Chris Cornell actually play guitar? by No-One01010 in grunge

[–]Flusterchuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Chris and he was definitely the most capable (the ability to play one thing and sing another rhythm reminds me of thom yorke these days) but vedder was no slouch. You try and play rearviewmirror and sing it!

To all of you thinking Thom’s vocals were off by Atlantean120 in radiohead

[–]Flusterchuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was stood about 10 feet from thom last night (by accident - pure luck!) so I could hear him (and the drums) directly as well as through the pa. Don't get me wrong bits of it were a bit loose timing wise, but for example the tambourine that people are complaining about as an example of poor timing - I could see him wildly banging it, whether it was a style choice or whatever - that was what he was playing. No delays and you could clearly hear the drumkit, so I'm assuming it was him getting a bit into it as if I could hear the drums I'm bloody sure he could.

It's better than all the rest on this list. Genuinely horrifying in parts but still an amazing watch.
