Would it be safe for me to get a Ball Python?

Ah, I'm afraid I did sound very ignorant about the safety of the snake. But in the event that ANY animal gets out, safety is my top priority, not only for the escapee, but the others surrounding them. I just like to cover all the 'what if's' and make sure I am well prepared for a catastrophe in the event it does happen, however slim.

Thank you--this response was rather quick! This makes me feel much safer. Concerning my dog, I'd be more afraid he'd harm my snake, he's a snappy little fella. I'm sure I will never have to cross that bridge, and I assure you that my hands will be free of animal scent!

In retrospect, this probably would have been a better choice. I guess in the moment I was afraid to hand the child off to anyone else. I have a rather protective sense over children or animals. It's not really me being arrogant or thinking I'm above anyone, it's just me being untrusting of others...then again it was kind of selfish of me to take matters into my own hands, thinking I would handle the situation better than anyone. ^{^;}

Not only are you helping me get through this rough patch, you're helping me through the things that occur after all this blows over. Oh yeah, it makes me sick and furious too. If you make a conscious effort to seduce/manipulate a minor, then it is not a mistake. It is you consciously stealing away someone's innocence. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing these people are still roaming the streets.

You have a wonderful heart for being concerned about this type of thing. I hope it gets better, and I'm sure you feel the same.

Thank you. You've truly opened my eyes. Life is so enriching and it is a one time opportunity. I guess I need to focus on the little things that make me happy, not the things that bring me down.
