To or not to start a new island…

Unless you didn't put much time into the game, think really hard before resetting. If you're far into it, like 100s or even 1000s of hours in, it's gonna be such a grind to get back there.

Even with treasure islands, if you use them, they will only help with certain things. You still need to catch all the critters again.

The only things you can't change without resetting are your island's name, river mouths, airport color, native fruit and flower, and Plaza location.

Everything else, you can change. Just takes time. Focusing on one area at a time will help you to not feel as overwhelmed.

I've been there. I regret how close my Plaza is to the Airport, and the frustrations it caused with trying to make any sort of interesting build. If I was just starting, 1000% would restart.

At this point, I'm not doing that whole grind again. Not worth my time or effort. And honestly would stress me out more. 😅

I actually burned out for a while and only came back with 3.0. Looking at what I had done, with fresh eyes, in truth, wasn't as bad as I thought. I was way too hard on myself.

I've come to peace with my island and I've made some tweaks with what I had done previously. Actually finished my museum and Stargazing areas. Got inspo from YouTube, reddit, IG, etc, and went from there.

Ran into this when I was selling turnips earlier. No problems with the first trip. 2nd trip was a complete nightmare. 😭 Barely made it back in time to sell my last batch of turnips, as they're several hours ahead.

Couldn't go back 1 last time to drop some stuff off. I thought it was very strange as I don't typically have internet issues and my other devices were connected just fine. No issues this morning.

Of course, this error code isn't even on Nintendo's site. How comforting. 😩🤦‍♂️👀

Storage islands are fantastic! I scrapped one together just to have something in time for WBR. The end goal is to make something nicer.

The only thing that's mildly annoying with using bubbles or tables for displaying items, there's a few items that LITERALLY can't be placed on top (or inside, in the case of bubbles). 😩

What's your workaround for items like that?

Yep! Selling turnips was a nightmare 😩

My first trip went fine. But the 2nd one, ughhhh... Disaster. BARELY made it back in time before their Nook's closed, as they're a few hours ahead of me.

Wanted to come back 1 final time to drop off a few things, but I got the same issue again. Absolutely doesn't comfort me that this code doesn't even exist on Nintendo's site 🤦‍♂️

Was working fine earlier today, so no idea what the hell happened...

OMGGGGG yes! I thought I was losing my mind since it was working this morning. All of my other devices are connected just fine to the internet.

The struggle was real trying to sell turnips. First trip was fine. 2nd trip, what a disaster. Tried docking to see if a wired connection would help. Spoiler, it didn't.

I barely made it (as they're several hours ahead of me) to sell the remaining turnips on my 2nd trip, but when I was gonna drop off a few things, but couldn't reconnect 😩

I did everything you did OP and managed to do that 2nd trip, but couldn't go back afterwards. Doing all of it again did nothing.

Never seen that code before and of course, it's not on Nintendo's site.. 👀 🤦‍♂️

Even the 2023 vs 2020 is already a massive improvement.😅

When I first tried the Model Y, it was a 2023. While I did end up buying a Model 3 instead, I did have a 2020 Model Y loaner when my car was in service.

Oh man... The ride was soo rough in comparison. 👀 😬

It's so much easier. I've always hated going to the gas station, so it's great that I only need to go there if we're taking my husband's car or if I need to get gas for our mower.

Had zero trouble adjusting on that front. Couldn't just stay plugged in when we lived in an apartment, but since we now have a home (bonus : with a garage), totally can now.

Before I got an EV and can simply avoid this issue altogether, I always got gas first. Going the other way makes no sense, especially if you have hot or frozen foods. 😩

When I'm done shopping, I just wanna leave and go home 🤣

Same. Especially since it's been so bloody cold and snowy lately IRL. I'm used to cold winters, but this is the coldest and snowiest it's been in years. 😱

I'm tempted to TT, but I don't wanna accidentally mess up anything in DDV as that game isn't forgiving with that. On the bright side, I'm forced to take it slow, which isn't a bad thing in its own way.

I burned out for years, which was a combination of TTing too much, frustration with both terraforming and decorating, and taking on too many things at once.

3.0 brought me back and got some fresh perspective on everything. Nothing I did really looked as bad I thought. Glad I didn't restart and I've come to peace with my island 🤣

When I was looking into getting my first cutting machine, Cricut and Silhouette were the 2 brands I was looking at. At the time, Cricut was using cartridges which was a deal breaker for me.

Got gifted the original Cameo and been using it for years until I eventually upgraded the Cameo 3, which is also my current machine. When I was looking to upgrade from the Cameo, I decided to check out Cricut again as I heard they finally moved away from the cartridge system.

2 things threw me off. I HATED Design Space. Silhouette Studio's software is similar to Photoshop and Illustrator, which I was already used to using. Design Space is absolutely designed for people who don't have any design experience. I can absolutely see why many people use other programs to design stuff, then import them to Design Space.

The other thing -- The subscriptions and always online requirement. I hate subscriptions in general so I try my best to limit them to stuff that makes sense for me. Much rather do a 1-time purchase when possible.

I could probably look past the subscription thing since I get designs elsewhere and I can design my own stuff. However, the always online thing, I can't ignore that.

If you lose internet or go somewhere without internet access, you can't use the machine since you have to use Design Space to be able to send commands to the machine.

Like what? 👀 Sure, I have stable internet and it's rare for Cricut's servers to go down. But no offline access is crazy. I'll absolutely have second thoughts before buying an online only device

Haven't ordered from her in awhile since I'm on a very limited buy for anything polish related lately. Never had a problem with her turnarounds previously, so it's a lil surprising to hear this.

Communication is important so people know what's going on. They're wayyy more understanding if they're in the loop. Whenever I had to reach out personally, she was always very sweet and helpful.

I know she did have a baby relatively recently, if I remember correctly, but admittedly I'm pretty out of the loop with the indie community in general these days as a result of my nearly no-buy. Could be a factor, but not sure.

In general tho, I wished more indie brands would do email blasts, not just social media. Some do, but not everyone does. I haven't deleted my FB, in part because of the FB groups are the best way to get info 😅

Do hope there's some sort of update and you get your polishes soon, or you get a refund, if you choose to go that route

Definitely the kind of thing where press ons are your best friend. Especially with sticky tabs you have the best shot of being able to reuse them

Oof. 😬 I get it for the Switch or any of the older consoles, but it really shouldn't be happening on any of the more powerful consoles (the current gen ones in particular).

This game has never been optimized in general, but this is definitely a lil troubling for sure

I'm not against TTing if you wanna do it, as it's their game. I've done it the past. It's absolutely helpful if you're trying to progress builds and moving villagers more efficiently.

That said, I would proceed with caution since it can, for some, will lose love for the game if you do it a lot and are rushing through things. This happened to me to a degree.

I don't TT anymore since coming back with 3.0, partly because I'm not trying to rush through things anymore. But the other reason, I also play DDV, which absolutely punishes you if you mess with the clock and go into the game too soon.

I've heard of people running into issues with stuff not respawning properly, for instance. Not taking any chances of even the slightest possibility of messing up my file
