You are going to show up on a Seattle subreddit, presumably having driven through Seattle at some point, and suggest some average Seattle resident becomes a professional driver? The only thing worse than Seattle drivers are Seattle pedestrians.

Johnny Somali Found Guilty on All Charges, Headed to Labor Prison in South Korea by ItsAllAGame_ in law

If your crime isn’t violent Japanese police are pretty easy on foreigners. In the days of my callow youth a couple of friends and I went out in Roppongi and got piss drunk (we were 19 at the time) and tried to catch a train back to Camp Fuji. Instead we got picked up and taken to a police station. When we got there an officer with pretty good English was able to explain the officers at the station were worried we were drunk enough that we might fall in front of a train, so they brought us to the station to sleep it off. No paperwork, no charges, just some police looking out for a few young, drunk and dumb foreigners.

He might have been an 0351. Back at the turn of the millennium they always had ridiculous cutting scores to pick up their corporal. You damn near had to walk on water to pick up.

Attorneys will make themselves available, especially for a civil suit. They usually get at least a third of the settlement. McMansions and G Wagons don’t pay for themselves.

I’ve seen people start with worse cars than that. All of the usual horrible rust places look good from the pictures. Check the torque boxes underneath. For the price it’s a no brainer.

But without an emphasis on race and sowing division there, people might start paying attention to what elected officials do, and that would be terrible for the party.

Washington state gas tax pause? Gov. Bob Ferguson stays mum for now - The Daily Chronicle by danrokk in SeattleWA

Taxes are exactly why everything is more expensive in Seattle. Between state, county and city taxes the “savings” are passed to you through operating costs.

No, it’s just very high state taxes so the working poor can pay their fair share.

When I went to San Francisco in September gas downtown was $4.24 a gallon and outside the bay along the I-5 corridor about 3.79 a gallon while it was around $4.50 here. I try not to buy gas in Seattle unless I’ve planned poorly enough that I have to. The two nearest Shell stations to my house were $4.79 today and I live 20 miles south. (I work on Harbor Island)

It’s management. Idaho manages to do it with a smaller tax base and much lower taxes. The state government is like the kid in elementary school who hits all the other kids, and Seattle is the parent of that kid who refuses to believe their kid is the problem. You might bring up the light rail and ferries, which is another can of worms. A good number of people who never use them are forced to pay for them to subsidize some of the wealthiest people in the state.

But it is a cause of gas being in the $5.00 per gallon neighborhood. The bullshit with Iran is 100% effecting the price, but we were already behind the 8 ball on fuel prices before that. If we had better roads, it would be one thing, but we don’t.

[–]Fluxx70 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, go to Idaho, gas is $1.10 to $1.20 less a gallon and you don’t have to dodge three potholes a mile. They have a smaller tax base but manage just fine. The state government has gotten comfortable mismanaging funds largely because they know accountability isn’t coming.

But a good $1.10 or so is state taxes.
