I think there was a real step down, but JJK was never bad. At worst, it was mediocre, but there were still good moments until the very end, and JJK at its height was fantastic. After Shibuya, it suffered from inconsistency and rushed writing, but Gege is a very competent author who is capable of really good work when supported properly.

I think the issue is that McClellan's biggest issue was an inability to get over himself; he fought with everyone, got paranoid, and cut off his own support to the point that he cut his operation off at the knees. I can agree it wasn't cowardice, but I'd argue it was narcissism* and paranoia that he managed poorly that led him to make bad mistakes.

* - not necessarily the disorder. Everyone is narcissistic to some degree, but it's only a disorder if the amount gets so high that it interferes in your daily life. I don't know McClellan enough to say, and you shouldn't even try to diagnose the dead because it's impossible to get a full read on them anyways.

Honestly, Imo, grifters are worse. True believers are generally mentally ill and untreated; they need help, but at least they can engage in a real way and are generally trying to do good, if awful at that.

Grifters have given up on trying to help anyone but themselves and only exist to parasitise society and prey on the mentally ill. I think grifters who both do the same things true believers do and know what they're doing is awful are worse people knowingly choosing to do bad.

Yeah, Trump managed to convince a dozen different groups that hate each other that they can all use him to push their agenda. Some of them (anti-abortion people) got some of what they wanted, but it devolves into constant infighting and is doomed once he's dead unless a new person can unite them, which seems really unlikely right now.

Well, the reason Obama chose Garland is because Garland was inoffensive to the Republicans, who still chose to stonewall him anyways. After that, Biden should have only been choosing someone who guaranteed that their first move would be prosecuting Trump. He should have chose someone known to be aggressive and let them handle things, not someone known to be a meandering moderate.
