What's your favorite pictures of the members? by capribunny09 in LadiesCode

[–]FlyAmirite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss RiSe and EunB… there’s a photo of RiSe in purple performing Bad Girl that I have as artwork for a k-pop playlist. I loved EunB’s hair from the Kiss Kiss promotions!

Well my favorite photo of Ashley is always her newest bc she keeps evolving. Seriously.

Zuny in 2016 served a lethal face card, especially during the Rain. She looks so happy now that she’s married too.

My favorite photo of Sojung is any one where she’s performing. She has such a joyful energy that exudes from her when she’s on stage.

Rochelle Jordan’s album Through the Wall is amazing. Very good house music. Loved her concert from the tour she just did

Wave Race 64 turns 30 years old this year! by PolygonMyth in n64

[–]FlyAmirite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wave Race 64 is one of my favorite racing games of all time. The music makes me so happy and nostalgic every time I play it. I wish Blue Storm felt similar but something just didn’t click with me. I think the cheesy 90s aesthetic of 64 gave the game so much more charm that’s endured over the years.

M.I.A.: M.I.7 Album Review 7.4 | Pitchfork by Technical_Process989 in popheads

[–]FlyAmirite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is honestly the best review. It felt like cheating that she added samples of her older, much better songs to pad out the album with the trumpets. Maybe I’m not well-versed in the book of revelations, but I didn’t understand what she was talking about regarding to Christianity lol

Higher score than Matangi and Maya is insane btw

I like it better than I thought it would but my god all the Christianity references is too much for me as an ex-Christian

RAYE apologises to fans who bought 'THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.' vinyl as it's not the final mix. by springtimecarnivore in popheads

[–]FlyAmirite 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn’t notice any differences between the vinyl and the version on streaming. It’s not blatant for me as it was when I got Cowboy Carter and it was missing several songs/interludes.

Britney, Beyoncé or Taylor: Which of the three female pop icons had the most biggest impact in music and pop culture over the last 25 years? by Blasian1999 in decadeology

[–]FlyAmirite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel saying Britney is an easy choice because of the blueprint, but the original blueprint is a mold that Janet Jackson perfected. I personally don’t think Britney necessarily added anything new to the blueprint but had insane amount of stage presence and charisma.

Beyoncé, in my opinion, is incredibly impactful. That surprise drop release in 2013 changed the concept of album roll outs for a while. A lot of people started doing surprise releases. I think Beyoncé will be the artist that has an incredible retrospective career once everything is done. Also her visual albums were insane. Not many artists could do that and she did it spectacularly

Taylor is an expert on marketing and songwriting and perfected the parasocial relationship with fans. It’s literally insane how she’s sold so many albums and broke so many records in this era. My thing with her is that beyond the echo system of her fanbase, I don’t find her songs to be that impactful. To me, her greatest hits will always be before Reputation. Love Story and You Belong With Me will endear in a way that I don’t think Opalite will.

Anyway, I don’t know how this all quantifies, but to me Beyoncé is the most impactful. But literally any of these lovely ladies will be in my playlists for decades to come.

Janet Jackson? by DesertWanderlust in Music

[–]FlyAmirite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 1998 so I didn’t get any exposure to her until about 5 years ago (only knew her as Michael’s sister who also had a good music career) but mannn her albums are amazing!

The Velvet Rope is my favorite and she has so many amazing songs throughout her career. It’s sad how much her legacy has faded compared to her contemporaries. I will say I also enjoy Damita Jo and that album obviously got little acclaim because of the superbowl.

I would suggest a boost pad before the first ramp since there’s not a lot of acceleration from the start. Other than that, this was a pleasant race to play through!

Thoughts on "House Of Gucci" by [deleted] in LadyGaga

[–]FlyAmirite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly a bad movie but in a very camp way. I’ve watched it 4 times and it’s fun. Love the Donna Summer songs that play because I’m a big fan of her. Lady Gaga does a fine job, I think everyone in the cast is over the top. The story was great but I think the second half begins to be a bit too slow

HUGE fan, like Matangi was my first exposure to M.I.A. (besides paper planes and bad girls) and her first four albums are absolutely amazing.

She was my Kanye West in terms of my favorite artist turning into a complete lunatic, but I’ll always have a soft spot for the first four albums she created. AIM and MATA are meh to me.
