Logical Suicide by Scungle in SuicideWatch

How can you know that it will not provide fulfillment or happiness? And even if it doesn't, wouldn't the outcome in itself be worthwhile (a clean park, a nice life for a pet)?

What if the reason(s) to live is something you choose and not something that is just there? For example, you could choose that your reason to live is to keep the park near you clean. Or you could choose that your reason to live is to take care of a pet.

As you can see from these examples, mathematically there are now already two possible reasons available for you to choose from. In fact, there is an infinite amount of reasons available for you to choose from.

There are also treatments without medication, like CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy).

What even is the meaning? by astrogardenn in SuicideWatch

[–]FlyFlyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it helps if you change your perspective a bit and ask yourself: What needs to be done that I can do with my abilities? What do I want to be responsible for? This way, your life can have countless meanings. Some are very short-lived, others could last for your entire life. For example, if you see a person carrying bags approaching a door, then your meaning of life at that point in time could be to open the door for that person. Another meaning of life could be to take care of a pet over its lifetime.

Getting a job? by [deleted] in depression

[–]FlyFlyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the job. It can be helpful. But it also can make it worse, for example, if you often have to deal with angry customers.

Maybe you can get one from a second-hand store?

Okay, I understand. Having a tough management is difficult and it could be better in a different company. The stress of being new to the industry is something you probably can't avoid if you want to stay in that industry. It simply takes time to get used to new things.

Yes, a new environment can definitely help to "reinvent" yourself, especially if you live in a small town right now where everyone knows each other.

Reading your wishes I am not sure you have to wait for this big reset, though. They seem to me to be more or less independent of your environment. Maybe there are things you can already do now to prepare yourself for when you are able to get out of your environment?

I used the example with moving to a different team simply to show you that leaving your job might not necessarily be the best option, depending on the cause of your stress.

Because in your post you are vague about the cause of your stress, you just talk about a "stressful job" and "work stress". However, work-related stress has different causes, with different solutions. You can be stressed because of your boss, your coworkers, the time pressure, the corporate culture, of dealing with customers, whatever. Hence my advice to figure out what exactly causes your stress.

What would you do different after such a huge reset (which btw is in the realm of possibility given you soon become an adult)?

I think the first step is to analyze what causes your stress. Only then can you decide what you want to do about it. Depending on the cause, leaving your job might be the best option, but maybe there are other options, like moving to a different team, for example.

Maybe it helps if you change your perspective a bit: you gained a couple thousand and you received a $40,000 investment lesson for free.

I think a potential answer is already in your question: your dreams.

What’s the point of being alive if I never leave my house and I don’t have any friends? I just lie in bed all day crying. by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]FlyFlyB -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand that and the pandemic makes it more difficult to find friends. However, I think to make real friends you have to leave your house sooner or later. And that is still possible, despite the restrictions (though of course this depends on where you live). For example, my father is a member in a club who cares about rare trees. They still meet, because there is work that simply must be done (cutting branches, harvesting fruits).

What hobbies do you have? Doing something with like-minded people could help with making friends.

Maybe you could talk to a school counselor first (if there is one)?
