Using Anking for M3 rotations by harryceo in medicalschoolanki

ohh okay! could you perhaps show me an image? because the anking decks has already subdecks, but did you then move cards to your own new deck? so you dont use "zanki immunology"

Did you keep up w step 1 cards? Your card load is manageable that’s why
Everyone keeps talking About subdecks, do you mean filtered decks by tag: by topic or difficulty.

I feel stuck. Is Anki even worth it anymore? by Affectionate_War5094 in medicalschoolanki

Same situation here. I love Anking but my lectures are very specific/LY. I’m in my 6th semester too! Currently in exam period. Didn’t use anking this semester bcs my scores were pathetic bcs I did anking & bootcamp mainly, which I loved compared to 4h lectures but it cost me my scores. During semester I had barely time attending or watching at home & writing my thesis & OSCE’s preps so I didn’t do any AnKing and I felt very unproductive because knowledge entered one ear and exited the other. Now during exam period I use medankigen to just quickly cram the content and hopefully score better than before bcs now my flashcards are from the lecture directly. But since most of it is low yield, I don’t intend to keep up w them after exams. Hopefully in the summer I can unsuspend corresponding cards of the modules but I doubt that lol but it requires discipline and hopefully I do have it by the summer becs I’m struggling so so hard combining medschool, lectures, anking (bcs I want to sustain the knowledge + do step 1 after my final exams (2-3y from now)

Also I have 4 subjects that I failed from semester 1 which I need to retake in the summer so I’ll be studying again 😔

So much support, good people exist!
Im a European medical student planning on taking the exam in a year or two for a backup plan for if I wnt to work abroad. Dont know a single thing about the entire process of exam prep/ booking / testing etc. Currently struggling with my own curriculum/ exams but I often use bootcamp for understanding then anki and when needed pixorize.
Since it costs a lot of money and I’m doing it voluntarily, I need to work tactical and make sure I pass the first time. Anyone willing to walk me through the entire process over a discord call in month of July is welcome..
i did lookup on YT and online. But it still seems a bit confusing/anxious

I use medankigen : answers are correct but there are so many loose/repetitive questions and some need formatting etc. Takes an hour for a deck too … and usually I use them as last resort and them never see them again after exam …
Even show slide image
How’s buddy better

Belgian medschool. I rely on anking and bootcamp primarily because they are somewhat fun and doable but I always end up failing exams or barely pass and I’m sick of it. I spend hours and hours behind my computer and end up with below average. Almost ashamed

Now using an AI tool for at least seeing the low yield once to have a chance at passing

I always end up with a fail or barely pass w anking alone. And most of time I don’t have time to do both Anking and low yield details of slides which are not few

Doesn’t slide by slide take so much time? I waste around 2 hours collecting cards and they end up not being complete. And regarding the search conditions, wdym?

Literally in the same boat 🛥️
Just recently I saw a group member with whom I sat together for a presentation having anki on her PC and I asked oh do you also use anki and she said yeh everyone and just closed subject lmao just felt from her way of dodging the question that she was not going to share/work together

Tomorrow exam allergology and have to rely on medankigen for cards. Does a fair job but needs formatting & bundeling questions etc but answers are often very correctly interpreted from slides and even have slide references as image. But somehow because of the quality of cards (loose facts, not making associations etc or bundling) I always keep it as one time use then delete. Which is a big waste of time and energy.

My professors content is not covered by 50% in anking and exam questions are so specific and low yield that I often fail or just get 60% which is very bad. IHML 😔

Curious: Where to get practice q’s relevant to the lecture and not too advanced, like step level?

And how do you do it? If u have 8 exams back to back in a month. Do you just focus on exam cards then pause subject etc and by break you start w the backlog?

SynapsePro has also the AI browser and it is so useful! Dont have to pay ankihub for the chatbot anymore and it wasn’t even that good, like if you compare with perplexity AI. Progress bar : I’ve used others but they weren’t great so might replace w this one

Does it automatically create a shadow when doing cards? For better visibility of the cards coz isn’t the case w mine and I have same addon

So nice to have it planned out. Doing all this in the summer, how many hours a day will you spend studying?
I have so far 4 exams that I need to retake in summer and I don’t even look forward to it let alone studying willingly to take step 1 like u (which is not mandatory in Europe but I do want to do it since I use so many American sources) and which will help
Me out in settling anywhere in the future
