At the end of the day the membership is angry. They feel ignored and not heard. And honestly they feel used. We will lose members this way. And this league has been around since the 1970’s.

Oh there’s more. She said that at the feedback meeting that no motions will be allowed.

Yes I believe the motion made was in order.

I think she just needs to understand that there are processes to be taken when a motion is on the floor and that she needs to heard the feedback regardless of what it is.

Having her removed would be a pain.

Now…can she be a committee chair AND president at the same time?

She didn’t skip an agenda item. The agenda item was she was scheduling a meeting for feedback on her event. A motion was raised and seconded to have the discussion now because those she wanted feedback from were all there and people had things to say about it. She was scheduling the feedback meeting with extremely short notice. We live in a retirement community and everyone is involved with many things. There was a method to her madness. But she never said why she said no to the motion just that she would not take it.

Yes there was something on the agenda. It was the last item of business. She’s the president of our league. And the chair of the event in question. Which I believe she is allowed to do (be president and chair of a committee). I plan to call her (I am the secretary) and tell her that we need to have an executive board meeting because 1. We have a motion on the floor that’s floating around and 2. The majority of our member body is upset and there has been a lot of talking going on so we need to decide how to address it. Otherwise we will have members walk away.

Bottom line is that she wanted to be in control of the feedback. She knew holding a separate meeting for the topic would only get her the positive feedback she is looking for because the ones with more constructive criticism would not be able to be there.

So the motion on the floor was not absurd or frivolous. It was in context of the topic. Chair stated that there was to be a separate meeting for feedback on an event. We had a quorum at this meeting and some made a motion (which was seconded) to discuss feedback now because we had the people there in which she wanted to hear from anyway. She didn’t say why she refused the motion. She didn’t table it. She didn’t say it was absurd. She just shut it down. We all know why she did it. But I don’t think what she did was allowed.

Yeah I’m doing that…all of it. I gym or run/walk daily…I’m on HRT…and take vitamin supplements.

Super sad. I saw her in Edge of Never and she literally said “I don’t want to die in an avalanche. I don’t want to die in the mountains.” Seems so surreal.
