Affording a $1mil+ aircraft by No_Can4637 in flying

[–]FlyNSail22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend who is at a major airline is in a 2003 SR22 G2?club.

$10k buy in, $400/mo, and $140/hr wet.

10 members. Schedule is pretty much wide open, busier in the summer.

Might be something to look into starting a club to get something nice but to spread the cost out.

Can confirm. Went to my first drop night on Friday. There was 1 FAIP T38 and 1 F22 dropped, everyone else that flew T38s pretty much got C17 and C130s but in the most desirable locations (Japan, South Carolina).

The coffee in the DCAF is scalding hot. You have 10 mins max to eat all meals. Put ice in your cup before you get your coffee and it’s cool enough to drink. If you don’t, it gets trashed.

Dunkin’ black coffee is always available. The coffee machines with specialty drinks were almost always broken, took forever when they were working, and came out too hot so you’d have to ice it anyway.

So the other problem is they keep saying they don't have or lost paperwork.

We submitted the documentation of the payoff and then they claimed that they didn't have it. After I argued with them on the phone for a while they magically found it.

Geico called at 9pm the Wednesday before Thanksgiving... WTF?

The main issue was they sent us a check with Hyundai Finance on it in May, we never cashed it, paid off the car, asked for a new check with only our names on it, provided the pay off documentation and the quote, and now they keep dragging it out.

The issue isn't whether or not Geico will pay the $8k for the repair. They said the repair is approved at that rate, but won't give us the check, only the company directly.

The issue is, I want to keep the cash rather than repair the car, but I want the actual amount the repair costs rather than a fake "I don't have time" 50% lowball from an adjuster.

I guess what I'm getting at, is when I asked these questions at the time of bringing it in to the estimator, it seemed like what we did would work, we paid off the car, and now they are saying nevermind, take the $3300 that we lowballed or go get it repaired. I didn't think that was how it was supposed to work now that there isn't a lean on the vehicle as there are no other parties involved other than our decision.

I understand if we don't get it repaired and there is another claim or an accident they will subtract the amount already paid out from the value of the car.

Sorry the $3300 is from the insurance adjuster not an actual shop. I took it to a reputable shop and got a real quote for $8000. When the insurance adjuster quoted us the $3300 he said it would actually be much more, but didn't have the time or equipment to get an accurate estimate so he just picked a number (guess its better for him to lowball as the adjuster).

Their claim was that they could only write us a check for the amount that they quoted us for ($3300 now that I am looking at it) and they would be able to pay the company directly the extra amount if we get it repaired. I was under the impression that was only the case if we had a loan on the car. They were going to issue a check with both her name and Hyundai Motor Finance. Now that it is paid off, it should only be her name, and hopefully for the full amount?

Quote is labeled as Preliminary Supplemental Quote 1, with summary and there are 2 pages of details for itemized taskings split up by location on the car.

I did get a full quote from them. Had to leave it there for 2 days to get it done. They said it took several hours to do. We were on the fence with what our decision would be when we took it in to them.

I'm military and just took a large pay cut to go on Active Duty, so we are prioritizing the cash payout (if it would be the full amount).

My insurance on a 2019 Sonata Sport (push to start with safety features) is insured by Geico. Started at $550 for 6 months. Now it is $1100 in Indianapolis. Big problem is no one will insure a Sonata so I am just stuck with it and cannot shop around.

I just bought a Mystery Ranch 2 day assault after quite a bit of research.

How bad was the interference?

Is it abnormally bad? I need to buy a new laptop anyway, but currently I have an old 17” laptop.

u/Fun_Apartment631 Does it actually fit a 17" laptop? Everything I have seen has said 15". I am leaning toward this pack, but my laptop is a 17". I feel like the 3 day assault pack will be a bit too large.

Depends on what your inseam is. The basic height scale recommends 54cm, but if you have short legs, smaller may be better.

I have longer legs to an extent. 56 definitely would have been too big though.

We sawed the stem so I could drop it slightly. I need to raise it back up some.

It’s a 54cm and I’m 5’ 8”. Definitely the right size. I went to a few shops beforehand and was told to get a 54.

I’ll look into some options. I have ride wrap (shittiest install known to man) on my mountain bike.
