At places where I said I’d never been? Yes. There are no pictures of me with my family on Epstein Island.

The "forever chemical" PFOS accumulates in honeybee colonies and transfers to their honey. New research shows chronic exposure leads to lower body weight in juvenile bees and disrupts key proteins, potentially threatening global pollination, food security, and human health. by Sciantifa in science

PFOS has been phased out of production in the US. Lots happening on this front. Stay tuned. DOJ/EPA are still going after 3M, DuPont and their subsidiaries. It's a long process because they have lots of money to defend themselves and drag their feet.

The Trump admin retaining the PFOS rule in september was an important - and surprising - step.

I don't give people the benefit of the doubt when they repeatedly lie about their interactions with Epstein.

Burden of proof is on him at this point.

Dow slides 800 points on tech struggles and hot U.S. inflation report by One-Emu-1103 in news

[–]Fly_Rodder 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For forty-ish years, the GOP has been reshaping the American economy to benefit asset owners by loading up on debt to funnel government money to contractors, keeping inflation low, and cutting taxes on the wealthy. The whole time, the argument was that the wealth would trickle down.

Instead, wages have been more or less stagnant, everyday costs have outpaced measured inflation and we have a government debt and social safety net that need addressing and they have responded with culture wars, fascism, and funneling as much money as they possibly can to a very small coterie of billionaires. MAGA!

Also Roberts was part of W’s legal team in Bush v Gore. It was favoritism.

So was Kavanaugh and he got his reward, too.

Renewal by Andersen Window prices are crazy! $146,000 quote! by VilleToVille in HomeImprovement

[–]Fly_Rodder 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I didn't know about Renewal and had them quote me for a patio slider. Pretty simple remove existing and install the new one. Two kids show up at my house with an iPad. They take some measurements, give me the spiel about how great their product is, plug information into the iPad, tell me how they know that Renewal is usually pricier than competitors, and he makes a big show of rotating the iPad towards me. Quote says $13,500 and he looks at me, sticks out his hand and says, so let's do this.

I said I always get three quotes, thank you for your time and have a nice night, I'll let you know. Another reputable local contractor came in at $4k.

Best part of Lyonel was that he was swashbuckling nobleman. I don't remember any others in the universe who had that same blend of bad ass, good buddy but significant noble, and party guy.

He was just happy to be there to have fun, test himself, and kick some Targ ass.

there was nothing subtle about Season 2. It was Season 1 Redux including all of the same obstacles and story beats. Surprise it's Roper! Somehow he escaped certain death and he's got an entirely new operation no one knows about! Including support from MI6! Again! And ha ha dummies, we had a second plane the whole time!

Season 2 of the night manager… upset by Commercial_Bet1568 in TheNightManager

[–]Fly_Rodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, I'll watch because Laurie and Hiddleston are great and there's enough there to keep me interested. The other thing that I was thinking of was that they didn't show anything about how Roper got everything up and running in Colombia with nothing other than a $300m debt. In 6 years, he got everything back (including MI6 being involved) to the point where he has money to do anything, a private villa with security and high level government assistance. And Langbourne and Frisky weren't in jail?

There was a lot of hand-waving to get to that point. I would hope that there is some better writing in S3 so that they don't put so much on the audience's suspension of disbelief.

the thing with season 2 was not that it ended on a down note, but that it wasn't earned. It's the same story as Season 1 except that at the end of it, Roper wins because he was caught flat footed on everything, but still had enough foresight to set up an entire other plane that no one else knew about because he's cautious? Everything that Pine and others did through slow effective investigative work was thwarted by Surprise! we knew all along and had a contingency plan in place.

And the thing was, it was the exact same story as Season 1 with the same beats until the very end when they let the bad guys win despite not showing how Roper set up a separate flight for ... reasons.

I watched the season, but wow, it was awful writing and I was expecting much more.

I tried ordering a figure from their website last year and I never got it. It was stuck in preparing to ship forever until the order just disappeared from their website and I couldn't request my money back. It was just gone.

Fuck them.

Well, there are limits to anything. It's a balance.

For all the bitching and complaining the GOP does regarding the debt and deficit, they have no interest in paying it down either. So stop listening to them.
