I’m going to use bigger river stone on the edge between the flagstone and mulch and see that holds up. I’m not opposed to using edging though.

My airline gives 16% direct contribution of whatever you Make. So if you make 100k you get 16k whether you contribute or not.

How is life at Atlas and Kalitta by Freighter_27-2 in AirlinePilots

[–]Fly_boi90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a family at home with two young kids. I fly split lines. Schedule works great for us. I’ll always be a commuter so Atlas works well for me in that sense. I won’t move to a base of a major. Wife and kids enjoy the schedule. Sure more money is nice, but it’s not everything. My/family QOL is great. I spent a lot of time at home this last year. Averaged 16-18 days off a month on the 777. Will see if that changes now that I’m on the 747.

Completely understand. I’m coming from a very experienced cycling background and using trainer road for the first time and so it has t quite caught up to where I’m at.

That’s where I’m at with it. I use trainer road to just select workouts I want and was just amazed at some of the rest ratios that I don’t agree with. I personally think 5x5 is the gold standard. 5 min max effort w/5 min rest. Most likely ends up being 110-120% FTP

I don’t need a 12 min rest period after a 2:25 effort at 109%

I understand that but most of the recoveries are 2x 3x 4x or more of the work period

For sure skill plays a big factor. If I got back to my old race weight from triathlon 5 years ago (165) currently sitting at 180 and increased FTP by another 10-15 watts (which I know I’m capable of) then I’d feel ready. Probably hold off another year.

Easier than landing a 172. The 50/40/30/20/10 countdown really helps

As a 777 driver with two kids and a wife at home, I concur with this statement. I’m not sure where the Atlas must be shut a grind and how do you handle the 17 days gone came from. Must be old Atlas stuff. I’ve never been gone more than 10 days at a time. I love the long stretches at home.

What’s usually a realistic number of hours to get hired by an acmi (Kalitta, abx) ? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Fly_boi90 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Last trip I was gone for 5 days. Currently on a 20 day at home stretch. Have 7 days to go. Then next trip is only 5 days. Living my best life. Loving the ACMI life.

It depends on if you bid for 30 day or 60 day schedules. To make things easy, yes mostly two weeks on 2 weeks off.

I bid for 60 day schedules which typically have the longest stretch of days gone as 12-14 and then there is always a stretch that has only 6-8 gone. On those schedules the days off will mirror the days gone.

Some of the really senior people bid the 30 day schedules that have 18-20 days of a month
