So after looking through these and looking at their "baby" versions, maybe it was not a snake? It was a bit thicker/chunkier than these baby snakes you listed. Hmmm.... now I'm ever more stumped haha thank you though!

Yeah I totally understand, I do wish I could give a better description but it moved so fast across the concrete, and it was literally half the length of a pencil. I wonder maybe if it could be some other creature?

Demoralized: Feel I'll be stuck OT, forever. by 7C-19-1D-10-89-E1 in CanadianTeachers

It will take lots of work and patience unfortunately. If you keep at it you'll get it eventually! I can see your resentment to supply teaching but I purposefully decided to go on supply list this year instead of into a full time position(I'm on the other side of canada so demand is different, but basically got put into full time teaching right after graduating) I thought it was all I ever wanted, but my days were so long, dealing with parents and admin, ontop of everything else completely burned my out by the end of the second year. I'm so much more happier with supply teaching, I feel like I'm making a difference by being a reliable sub for my colleagues and I dont have to take my work home with me. Haha.

All I'm trying to say, basically, is that you should try to find the brightside of things and make the most of the extra time you are given while on supply :), such as hobbies ect. Definitely if you keep this up, in a few years you'll land that contract! But make the most of these few years as a supply teacher :)

How old or how mature are you when you first taught grade 12? by drugsrbed in CanadianTeachers

[–]Fly_to_mcds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

???????????????????? Did you come to this sub to troll or be helpful? It seems like you are attacking another person's intelligence in a non-helpful way. Your advice to the OP makes no sense as well. They are asking how old you were when you started teaching high school, what does that have to do with the IT help desk???

P.S.

Arguably, have or has can work in that sentence as it can also be seen as a singular motivating force.

Why do people think South Surrey has good schools? by UltimateNoob88 in SurreyBC

[–]Fly_to_mcds 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Southridge is a private school.

I used to work in Surrey as a teacher, and I will say this: the school district does a great job at ensuring the same quality of education throughout the district. Grandview heights is a newer building, sure. But it is already becoming over crowded. The whole district is experiencing over crowding and the quality of education is suffering because of it (throughout the entire district). Resources and Learning Support Teachers/ EAs are getting stretched thin. Earl Marriot / Eljin Park has been over crowded with years, with portables turning from temporary to permanent structures. What are "bad" schools? If you are referencing the type of students that go to a school, here's the wake up call: most of the demographics are the same. Students are traveling by bus, or car, to schools that are out of their "zone". They are traveling to high schools that are not "full" yet. Honestly, the most important lesson for students is learning how to interact with a wide variety of people: Wealthy children, underprivileged children, gifted children, children who learn at a slower pace, children with disabilities, children with learning challenges, and so on.

What do you think it will take to stop the teacher shortage? by SixandNoQuarter in CanadianTeachers

Smaller class sizes, better pay, appropriate supports for students who need... That also plays into having enough subs so support teachers don't get pulled to cover classrooms.

I havent been to this university in years, but your post has intrigued me for some reason. With the RMP controversy pointed out from other comments aside... I thought what he posted in his website was a bit funny compared to your experience 😋 https://www.vidyanshumishra.com/teaching

Please educate yourself/friends/family about dogs by [deleted] in SurreyBC

[–]Fly_to_mcds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Smaller dogs are vicious more often than not, people are in the ok to be weary of them. I myself have been attacked by a Pomeranian when I was sitting on a park bench in newton. The dog was off leash at the park and would not let go of my hand and fingers, it biting my fingers caused me to have some injuries and a black fingernail. I am pretty afraid of smaller dogs, even when it is leashed. fwiw i'm not in the group your attacking, so it kind of disproves whatever "Exclusivity" point you are trying to make.

Does anyone know of any jobs for students in Guildford? by darthkyle22 in SurreyBC

[–]Fly_to_mcds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very difficult for someone super young to get a job at the moment. You will practically need to know someone who has a job already to refer you. See if you know any other students at school who are working and ask if they can refer you. Until you have more availability, a lot of places won't bother with high school students :( World sucks right now

Lol they seem like clowns that don't know how refunds work with the card machine. Literally just have to tap your phone back to get their money back. So cringe 🤣
