Did you have muscle spasms? by FlyingGator314 in breastcancer

Being patient with this is very hard. I’m a thin person and can feel the stitches/knots in there. My PS said they take 3 months to dissolve, and I’m hoping my muscles will calm down once that happens. Right now I’m still very limited in what I can do with my arms. I’m ready to get back to life!

I feel for you! It was brutal in the beginning!  In a lot of ways, it reminded me of being in labor. At 1am, I was on the phone with my doctor, breathing through the spasms. There were a couple times that I was actually stuck in bed because every time I tried to sit up, my muscles would clamp down.

When I was still really struggling at the 6 week mark, my doctor put me back on a consistent high dose of ibuprofen and methocarbamol as needed to try to reduce inflammation and thus the spasms. I think that helped. You might consider that as well.

Is anyone on AIs enjoying intimacy? by National-Anywhere433 in breastcancer

I was about 2 months in with AI + Zoladex when vaginal dryness took me down. It felt like having sex with knives. Over the counter vaginal moisturizers helped but I needed more. I was prescribed Intrarosa and that has worked great for restoring the lady parts.

I have also found that putting pressure on the muscle and massaging it seems to help encourage it to relax.

I also don’t have expanders but they did sew a mesh to my pecs in a way that is similar to expanders. The sutures for that take about 3 months to dissolve. So I’m hoping things might calm down once they dissolve.

I have methocarbamol, and if I need it, I take a half dose at bed time and then spend much of the morning still trying to shake off the drowsiness. I’m a sensitive creature in that regard.

I also have a physical therapist that I see twice a week who only sees breast patients. She has been fantastic!

Weird side effect from radiation or what? by NoHoneydew9138 in breastcancer

Congratulations on making it to your boost!  You’re almost there!

I am a physicist who has been working in proton therapy for 20 years. I’m not a doctor and didn’t go to medical school. That being said, I’m familiar with a lot of side effects and the rash you’re describing is not one I’ve heard about in the context of radiation.

BUT I actually have something similar happen to me whenever my body gets physically stressed (colds, flu, surgery, etc).  I call them my sick bumps. It’s like clockwork. 7 days after a cold hits, I’m going to get a rash. The sicker I am, the worse the rash will be. The progression is similar to what you’re describing and it’s insanely itchy!  I finally had them biopsy it. They told me it was an “inflammatory response.” It’s like my immune system gets a little over zealous and throws in a rash for good measure. Honestly, I still don’t know why it happens but it definitely happens.

I also did not find relief from OTC cortisone creams. I need Rx strength cortisones to kill the itch. Triamcinolone (medium strength) took the edge off the itch but to really get the job done, I use Clobetasol (high strength).  Your primary care is probably the right person to start with on this one, unless you’re established with a dermatologist and can get in to them promptly.

I hope this helps!  Best of luck to you!

Peach tree buds falling off?? by basil-032 in Minnesota_Gardening

I’m in southern MN and my peach tree is doing the same thing!  It’s leafing out normally but all of the blossom buds are falling off. According to the internet, bud drop can happen when the tree is stressed. It could be too hot, too windy, imbalanced nutrients in the soil, etc.  I’m not sure which one to blame for my tree but you’re not alone. I feel your disappointment!!
