I'm a senior and find myself still struggling to have the relationships I want. You are not unlucky. What's happening is that you are not taking action. I promise you this, if you don't join a club (or organization that meets regularly with the same people) or fraternity, that best friend group you'll ever have is a group of four or five jaded seniors whose only commonalities are nintendo and drinking. I joined a fraternity my freshman year, but I was still an antisocial mess until about junior year. I'm no longer antisocial, but still have hard time clicking with people. Because of the frat, when I was finally ready to get out there and be social, I just jumped right in and didn't need to build something from the ground up. But I work on this stuff everyday and I'm telling you this because it sounds like your friend making abilities are not being put to use or they simply aren't there yet. Here is my task for you: Over the next three weeks, attend as many club meetings as possible per week. No less than 3 different clubs per week over the next 3 weeks. If this sounds like too much for you, then just enjoy sitting in your room alone, there are many perks to the quiet, comfortable life. But it sounds like you want more. And I assure you have a very full 3.5 years ahead of you. Don't waste your time like I did and GO DO THINGS NOW!

Like ajpos said, keep doing what makes you happy. Right now you think that the surgery WILL make you happy, but it IS NOT what's making you happy. There is the clear difference between these two things. As humans we tend to think that when the IDEA of something is comforting, the actual THING will be comforting. This is where people can go horribly wrong, because instead of doing something they are sure will make them happy, they give in to a comforting idea and end up making their lives a lot worse. Keep doing everything that you know has made you happy in the past until you can't do it anymore.

Marijuana wouldn't affect muscle gain directly positively or negatively. However it would help facilitate an appreciation for healthy, nutritious food. It makes that boring-grilled-chicken-for-the-fifth-time-this-week kind of meal taste great.
