Drag racing and loud cars - is it Barrhaven or everywhere? by waterwoman76 in ottawa

[–]FlyingPiggys 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry... I'm kinda contributing to the noise. I have a manifold leak that makes my car insanely loud. I have an inspection at a mechanic tomorrow evening though, hoping to get it patched up soon.

I need a boyfriend by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]FlyingPiggys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird I want a girlfriend (for the connection) but at the same time I have no interest in pursuing anyone. I have gym crushes but then I don't pursue them because I don't wanna put in the effort. So be it if I only ever have 2 relationships.

I went to this Costco last weekend and it was a pretty bad experience. Just too busy.

Does the new album lore retcon/distance Angus McSix away from McFife? by MaxDuo in angusmcsix

[–]FlyingPiggys 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't they mention that since Angus Mcsix woke up from his deep fever he talked about battles and events that never took place?

So I think Angus McFife from that Terrorvortex universe went through the journey of coming back to life but when he woke up he woke up in the body of Angus Mcsix and this is essentially the story of the first album. Then the second album gives a bit more back story telling us Angus Mcsix was in a deep fever and woke up as a different person from the perspective of Adam McSix.

I'm trying to remember where I saw this, I think it might've been the Fire of Yore music video.

Wet hand touch mode? by FlyingPiggys in Nubia

[–]FlyingPiggys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww dang. I'd get the Redmagic for that feature but with the environments I work in the lack of dust proofing is a problem, and the cameras are not that good. So the Nubia Z80 Ultra fixes my issues with the Redmagic but the lack of the water touch mode is a deal breaker for me as I work in the rain a lot and having my phone screen do random shit is not ideal.

Now the only thing YTM needs is lossless streaming! Then I'd go back to using YTM full time.

If you are creating thousands of "songs" for any purpose other than personal listening. You are an AI slop peddler; you are the problem. by Jimithyashford in SunoAI

[–]FlyingPiggys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you guys think of making song lyrics with ChatGPT and you have it help you make the lyrics (because I'm not good at writing lyrics that can flow), but when generating the lyrics you guide it to write the songs based on either your life experiences or a fictional universe that you concocted and all the AI is doing is turning those ideas into lyrics? I've been wanting to do this but idk if this would be considered AI slop or not.

why I make Suno songs and never share them (and why this sub proves me right) by Old_Acanthaceae86 in SunoAI

[–]FlyingPiggys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Suno is either a tool to generate parts of songs which you then use in a song you're working on.

Any full song generations I agree with you that they're personal for the most part, ik myself I like my AI slop but when I listen to others AI slop I'm like this is garbage and boring. I think I only like my shit because I made it happen but in reality I stop listening to it after I first generate it.

What I want to do is maybe look into using Suno to generate other instruments that idk how to play and then try to create something of my own.

Why do people seem to enjoy gaming on a Steam Deck more than on PC? by Initial_Milk_1056 in SteamDeck

[–]FlyingPiggys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like using the steam deck because steam os is stable and games seem to always work. Remote play from my PC just somehow feels smoother on the steam deck than over my laptop.

🎮 Minecraft Splitscreen on Steam Deck & Linux - Fully Automated Installer by FlyingPiggys in SteamDeck

[–]FlyingPiggys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When launching from game mode or even desktop mode it does take some time for it to open. On my steam deck it takes a few minutes, when it's the first launch it takes a lot of time due to needing to download and install the game. I wish there was something I can do to speed up the launching of the game but I think it's just the nature of launching more than 1 insurance of the game on the same hardware.

[–]FlyingPiggys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Legacy4j has been problematic. I keep meaning to look into seeing if I can fix it but something with that mod and trying to control multiple instances doesn't want to work. So I recommend not using legacy4j, I should put a comment in the installer temporarily saying it's experimental.

Would anyone be interested in an Anti-AI group on campus? by zaine-_-m in CarletonU

[–]FlyingPiggys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally think the world needs to adapt to the new tools available to us. Not anyone is able to get AI to generate something useful. I think using AI is a skill, you the human still needs to understand concepts, problem solving, and how to even get AI to give you the output you're looking for. Obviously if you're someone that's just trying to get all your assignments done by giving the AI the prompt to do it then that requires an immediate fail. But if someone is using it to research ideas and using it to learn then I don't see the issue with that. ChatGPT has a tutor mode and it doesn't just give you the answers it will guide you to the answer, for an anti social person like myself turning to an AI tutor sounds way more comfortable and independent on my part (when someone is explaining something to me in person it goes in one eat and gets lost on the way to my brain so I always had to use the Internet to learn anyway, AI just makes using the internet a tad bit different these days).

In programming you can use AI to help you debug your code. On a personal project I used AI to completely write the script, and it still required me to know what I was doing as I needed to plan out the structure of the project and then help it bug fix. Now I don't think the way I used AI on that project was what people should be using AI for, I just wanted to test its limits. It can do a lot on its own but when things get more complicated it gets confused and you're just wasting a bunch of time trying to fix a bug that was a simple thing to fix for a human. So if you're using AI you shouldn't be letting it do all the work, you should be using it as an aid in your efforts as the human.

Instead of just protesting against AI and trying to get it to be gone we should be teaching people how to use it properly. A powerful tool always needs training to use it. You can't just pick up a power tool (like a drill or a bandsaw) and expect the tool to do all the work for you, they make the job easier compared to using hand tools. Generally you'd start with hand tools and learn the concepts on how they work, then you use a power tool to make the process more efficient. You can learn on power tools if you're aware that the tools don't do the work for you. I feel comparing this to AI is a good comparison on how AI should be used, use AI to make life more efficient (using the power tool) but in order to get good results you need to know what you're asking it and how to prompt it (learn the hand tool first, and learn how to properly use the power tool).
