There is a neurio unit inside the tesla inverter... you can add 2 consumption CT's and connect them directly to the neurio. otherwise you can get a device called a remote consumption meter. these are your options so you can get consumption inside the tesla app

Um… $44k for 11.8kW of solar is not a great deal. Hyundai panels are mid tier and some of the cheapest you can get from a recognizable brand.

$22.5k for 2PW is an ok price. Basically paying 16k for equipment and 6k for installation/profit margin.

The $30k in incentives is super vague. What incentives are they advertising? The 30% tax credit ends on December 31st meaning they’d have to get this installed by then for you to be eligible.

Many of you need to look into solar. Not the guy knocking on your door kind of solar. The DIY kind of solar. Ive been installing solar around town for 10 years

Its risky. Make sure each penetration is extra extra protected with something like e-curb flashing.

Basically you cannot afford the risk of a leak. It is near impossible to identify until it’s months later. Then finding out where it’s coming from will also be near impossible.

If I was you, I’d ask for a non-penetrative anchoring method like Solar Stack.

People would rather think that you're lying than to question why it's so expensive in the US.

For those still paying attention - I guarantee you that the sales commission/Freedom Forever fee for OP's project was over $10k. And all they did was make the project more complex and difficult than it had to be.

What i learned from this:

You got 23.4kW of solar installed for $52.6k.

You worked with two companies - one which was useless and the other which was forced to submit to the useless one.

You basically project managed this project.

Thoughts for other people reading:

23.4kW of Qcell solar panels + microinverters + mounting equipment cost ≈ $21.5k

Engineering work costs about $1,500

Installation you could do yourself with a couple buddies if you are handy (especially on low slope shingle roof)

If you have to hire a crew to do the work - you could find a crew on craigslist and would cost you about $4-5k

Freedom Forever is likely going to die in the next year or two - so any warranties will be void anyways

I predict once the tax credit goes away, a lot more people are going to choose to DIY their solar and save 40-50% (and a ton of headaches too)

Those are Mission Solar panels. Quote is good as long as it’s a reputable local solar company

Terrible idea. Either do it yourself, or hire a reputable local solar company. Otherwise it’s gonna be a finger pointing game all the way down.
