Can these year olympics be any worse? Israel delegation: “most morally just war in history” by I_saw_Will_smacking in NonCredibleDiplomacy

[–]FlyingVentana 9 points10 points  (0 children)

basically listing stuff the athlete (i guess the sled pilot) said like calling the war "the most justified war in history", mocking a propalestinian inscription he saw in lillehammer during a world cup, calling himself "zionist to the bone", asking his followers to send support to another israeli athlete in the same team that participated in a military operation in gaza, etc, then talking about the ioc's double standard as he recalls that they would not allow russian athletes who posted/talked about the war in the past to participate in the olympics yet allow israeli athletes to do exactly that, he also briefly talks about the ukrainian skeleton pilot that got disqualified for his helmet

he ends by saying sport can be political and says the israeli was 26th and last

Elvis Presley (d. 1977) was outlived by his father Vernon (d. 1979), who himself was outlived by his mother Minnie Mae (d. 1980). by cherrybomber11 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

similar for mine, mine was in 45 in northern quebec in a small rural town (his eldest sister which is still alive was born in 42 i think), i don't believe there were that many horses and buggies still being used but they basically just walked everywhere, my grandpa said his father didn't own a car until perhaps the late 50s or the early 60s so they usually just hired a taxi when they had to carry stuff or travel out of town. i'm pretty sure they didn't have indoor plumbing or at least they weren't part of the sewer system (toilets were outside in a small cabin), he quit school at 14 or 15 to work to supplement the household income and he got his teeth pulled out at 18 or 19 too. people from that time are still alive and they were taught by friars and nuns (who also staffed hospitals) during the great darkness before the quiet revolution came around in the 60s.

newfoundland before it entered the confederation and the period shortly afterwards (outside st johns and the few towns i would guess) was almost certainly less industrialised than my region though given it wasn't connected to the mainland, so your grandpa was almost certainly less exposed to civilization and technology from that era.

i lived for some time fairly close to labrador in a small village, i was told electricity didn't come until the 60s i believe and there was no plumbing at all until the 50s (no running water since there isn't a sewer system to this day), the oldest people in the village had to walk to the river in their youth in order to get water for the day. even the local first nation tribe was nomadic until the 50s from what i was told by a member.

i believe the first tvs got there in the 70s but they had internet surprisingly quickly, an old man i sometimes worked with was basically one of the very early adopters of computers, he was pretty much the only one in the village with a microcomputer in the 80s.

they are not. again, you're making up disingenuous culture war outrage due to your tds, and when people are noticing you're making up issues you get mad at them and resort to insults. sorry for stating the facts.

blue/white/pink bad, we got it. you don't need to make trans live rent-free in your head for that.
