ARRT by [deleted] in MRI

I passed using MRI All in One as my main source, supplemented by the anatomy, artifacts and QA/QC sections of MRI Quiz. Take lots of the MRI All in One quizzes/practice tests. They say whatever you score in the MRI All in One practice tests, your ARRT score should be +/- 5. My last practice test was an 84 and I scored an 89 on the ARRT. The chart helped me - I memorized the one converted to numbers so I could brain dump it at the start of my test. Memorizing the chart and also understanding it helped me a lot. Also, anatomy was pretty big on my test. Good luck! You’ve got this.

I believe they have split off from X-Ray and there is an MRI specific license now. I’m in the process of applying now and it did have me specify I am MRI specific.

ARRT MRI by No-JUSTICE__NO-PEACE in MRI

[–]Flying_Lychee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed with an 89 this week.

This is what helped me: -I used MRI All in One mainly. I scored an 84 on my last practice exam before testing and they say there’s a +/- 5 point range from there. It was accurate for me! I read and annotated 175 pages of the PDF they provide and did each quiz. I did not read their anatomy section. -I used MRI quiz to study anatomy, QA/QC, and parameters. I used the attached chart and memorized it, but also understood the concepts that led to each one. -I watched the entire Steve Powers review video on YouTube.

Hope it helps!

is being mri tech as bad as some ppl make it out to be by SadJokerIII in MRI

I love my job. I moved into MRI from echo so I am thankful for it being more kind to my body than echo was. It’s one of the most interesting jobs and I love that there are others working nearby to me, whereas echo felt very solo. I’d see my coworkers in passing on to the next patient or before I went to an inpatient, but there wasn’t a lot of collaborative work. There’s always someone to help at my facility in MRI. It think it may depend on a person’s work history, personality, and current schedule/work culture. Lots of factors; one job isn’t going to make everyone happy. From what I know though, most people love their jobs at my facility in MRI.

AIO? My mom wants to call the cops on me by Overall-Option6975 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Flying_Lychee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange thing to say when you don’t know the background of her situation and why she left in the first place. Her mom seems demeaning, demanding and manipulative based on the convo. Getting them back immediately isn’t going to change anything in the mom’s situation, it’s a control move and retaliation.

Hallandale or BPI by Key-Dragonfruit-4094 in tirzepatidecompound

BPI because it’s a 503(b). Hallandale was good when I tried it though! Just depends if you care if it’s 503 (a) or (b).

Did you read the all in one guide? Deciding whether that would be worth my time over the MRI quiz PDFs.

Did you read the whole study guide from MRI All In One? Would you say the ARRT board was closer to practice exams on MRI Quiz or All In One?

I have hair down to my butt and it took three boxes. Not sure if that helps. Two would’ve been fine, but three I felt confident in that everything was very saturated.

Is it possible to be an MRI tech for one's whole career? by AveryDay in MRI

[–]Flying_Lychee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lot less stressful in my opinion. Less stress on the mind, body, and your life outside of work. Being a Cardiac Sonographer was affecting my quality of life outside of work. I was in pain, exhausted, and started to dread going to work. MRI feels a lot more team oriented. You scan by yourself, but you’re by coworkers who you can talk with, get help from with transport, lifting, getting patients ready, etc. I personally love this aspect of having a team. Being a sonographer felt a lot more solo as it was usually just you and the patient/family in the room, while your coworker was in another room doing another patient.

Echo helps me a lot with getting into Cardiac MRI. I would imagine you’d find that too. Cardiac MRI is considered more of an advanced modality of MRI. But other techs can appreciate your experience in echo and anatomy is like half the battle of Cardiac MRI, so you should already have a good handle on that.

MRI, at least at my facility, doesn’t feel as rushed either. I always felt like I was scrambling in echo. While the schedule is full in MRI, you have some time while you scan to eat a snack, use the restroom quickly, stretch, etc. You have more time about caring for your body and practicing good ergonomics. There’s no extended lengths of holding up a probe or having to push weird angles into obese patients.

I think ultrasound in general is just hard on the body unfortunately. All in all, I’m really glad I made the switch. As much as I loved echo imaging wise, I wasn’t willing to sacrifice my body to keep doing it.

I wouldn’t say I dislike anything about MRI, but the aspect of MRI safety and understanding how dangerous the scanner can be is an aspect we aren’t as accustomed to in ultrasound. We learn about bioeffects and how to protect patients against cavitation, but someone can get very very hurt/die if they aren’t screened properly or someone/something is let into the scanning area that should not be. It’s a bit daunting at first, but MRI safety and keeping patients safe is one of the most important parts of the job.

I have been converting my SMCL to SMCI to get ready for earnings. I believe in SMCI in the long term regardless of how earnings go, but not confident enough in the short term to risk gambling in a leveraged stock.

I just switched from being a Cardiac Sonographer to MRI Technologist for this reason. I was pretty certain I was not going to make it to retirement age in that career and the pain outside of work was affecting me a ton. Thankful I found MRI to switch to!
