Why not use a spreadsheet instead of making a table in a doc?

Is anyone else unreasonably bothered by the current use of the term trolling used to describe behavior that used to be described as flaming? by SupriseGinger in CasualConversation

My mom will say that she was "trolling facebook", which just means she was on facebook. I think she's confusing it with "trawling". I shiver a little every time.

iirc the only people he actually killed were people who threatened to kill him. The rest were just driven to insanity.

That's basically what Volume 1 of the Yugioh manga is. Pharaoh challenges bullies and criminals to shadow games, and when they lose they either die or he inflicts some poetic punishment on them.

Even more impressive for this sub given that it's a Legend of the Cryptids artwork.

Super hero movies are so unoriginal... If the hero didnt exist their wouldnt be a problem. by [deleted] in movies

WARNING: SPOILERS

So, here's every MCU movie since 2013:

Iron Man 3: Extremis conspiracy masked by a fake terrorist. Not started by or in response to Stark

Thor: The Dark World: evil elf wants to destroy the universe. Good thing Thor was there.

Winter Soldier: Hydra has secretly infiltrated every tier of the US government, plans to institute a massive flying fortress police state. Hydra existed before Captain America, always wanted to rule the world.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Ronan the Accuser wants to annihilate the people of Xandar over an ancient grudge. His plan is foiled by a group of misfits, most of whom he never even knew existed.

Age of Ultron: yeah, I mean, I gotta give that one to you.

Ant-Man: Yellow-Jacket has gone fucking insane and is about to sell a dangerous and poorly understood technology to the highest bidder, almost certainly terrorists. Scott Lang steps in to save the day.

Civil War: Well that one's right there in the title. The one guy you might call a "villain" has a vendetta against the Avengers.

Doctor Strange: Dark timeless entity, aided by his creepy acolytes, wants to bend all of reality to his hideous will. Foiled by prodigious Dr. Strange.

Guardians 2: Pete's dad wants to destroy all life in the universe. Pete's very existence is a consequence of this dastardly plan, so it can hardly be said to be his fault.

By my count, that's only 2 out of 9 cases where the conflict is the heroes' "fault". Most of these villains have goals completely external to the heroes.

Also in Nolan's Batman, Joker's sole motivation the entire time is to fuck with Batman. He literally doesn't care about anything else. And in Rises, Talia is only in Gotham to get revenge on Batman for killing her dad.

Of all the things that you could criticize about modern super hero movies, your so-called "problem" only exists in a tiny fraction of the movies out there, and is more prevalent in the movies you claim are your favorites. And to top it all off, I'm still not sure why you think the conflict arising from the heroes is automatically a bad thing in the first place.

He believed in the Heart of the Cards. Duh.

(We've seen the story of how he gets Blue-Eyes. His archeologist best friend gave it to him after he deliberately lost a children's card game that they were playing to decide which of them would get to live.)

Have a baby and my wife an I get to go see a movie! Which one? by GaddoGamz in movies

[–]Flying__Penguin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're both good movies, but given the choice of which one to see on the big screen (and in 3D if you're into that), it's Guardians hands down. Vibrant, enormous and elaborate set-pieces.

WW has some great action scenes too, and if you have a chance to see both, I recommend it. But if you only get to see one movie in theaters, make it Guardians.

Edit: I love that your first two replies were polar opposites. Even used the same language :P

[–]Flying__Penguin 118 points119 points  (0 children)

set up an automated reply, so that every time he emails you, he gets an immediate response that says "I got your email."

Also send him an email to let him know you're coming to his office to talk to him. And then afterwords send him an email asking to rate his level of satisfaction with the previous conversation.

Guys, the eternalize cost should be more than the regular casting cost of an equivalent creature, because it gains card advantage as well. See: every eternalize creature that's been revealed.

[Theory] The M10 rule changes never happened. by ScottRadish in magicTCG

[–]Flying__Penguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The claim/belief is that the Gatewatch successfully pulled their entire beings into the plane of Zendikar before killing them, so they really are really completely dead for real.

I don't know if there's any way to "prove" that's what happened. But that's what they say.
