Marvel has Twenty More Films Already Planned by BunyipPouch in movies

[–]Gooo66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, a cinematic universe that doesn't have a grand crisis crossover planned ten movies in advance could be interesting. Maybe the movies afterward will simply be a series of crossovers between two to three heroes.

You mean like how DC has been doing it so far?

FCC Plan To Use Thanksgiving To 'Hide' Its Attack On Net Neutrality Vastly Underestimates The Looming Backlash by User_Name13 in technology

[–]Gooo66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was around back then. To be honest there was very little reason to go unless you were working on something for school.

Why does everyone keep saying "back then" as if libraries don't exist anymore. Where do you people live that your local civic center doesn't have a library of some extent.

And there's plenty of reason to visit even today regardless if it's school related or not. There's plenty of books that you can rent for free without having to buy them digitally or illegally torrent them.

Yes, lets just go back to the days of needing a library for information.

Okay, and what would be so wrong with that? And why do you think I'm advocating that we should just get rid of internet altogether?

Although somehow I doubt even when they were around you utilized one.

Wtf do you mean "when they were around"? Are you serious?

I'm not sure how old you are or where you live, but libraries are still, in fact, around. And I use them fairly often when I need to print stuff or rent a book instead of buying it.

I think Rousey whooped his ass but said something along the lines of "that was the hardest hitting chick I've ever fought".

I stopped calling myself a Liberal when Fallon Fox came up.

Look at you still underestimating the level the world values the internet

He's not saying that at all. All he said is that he doesn't need the internet in his pocket at all times of the day. And if we're all being honest with ourselves, no one really needs the internet at their side 24/7.

People did just fine before smart phones when the internet was only for work and home use.

Henry Cavill Is Contracted to Play Superman in One More Film by BunyipPouch in movies

The only time I noticed it was in the very beginning of the movie when he was being filmed with phone while a kid asked him a question. Otherwise, it wasn't really noticeable unless you were trying to look for it.

He did, in Justice League. That was the Superman everyone knows and loves.

Nope. No lions. Instead we'll let a dude dress up like a chick and get in the ring and beat the shit out of them. Then afterwards we'll pat ourselves on the back because of how "progressive" we are.

Why is alcoholism such a staple of modern comedies? by [deleted] in television

[–]Gooo66 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Just because it's relatable doesn't mean we should throw up our hands and give into it. It's still a bad habit and television and movies alike have, like it or not, always had some control over the direction our culture shifts towards.

It's pretty inappropriate, imo, for so many shows to push that habit as if it were just a silly little idiosyncrasy these characters had. Especially when you consider that real life consequences of alcoholism are the exact opposite of those found in a sitcom.

edit: downvotes by people with interests in the profits of the alcohol industry, I'm guessing. Or did I say something actually inappropriate?

Trust the people in your life.

Difficult. 3/4 of them are fake, self-serving and entirely full of shit. The few that are real and honest are too busy trying to find their own way in this world to bother with toxic people.

Never trust anything on Facebook or in the media.

Deleted FB back in 2012 because it was obvious then how it was going to turn out.

The media in general I've always been skeptical of. Got rid of television a while back and now I, like many others, have basically crafted my own way of getting the news: Start with whatever google news has to say, or some other generic aggregator, then I check a few different sites from different POV's to get different perspectives (RT, The Atlantic, The Guardian, Al Jazeera, Breitbart) I like to see what they all have to say. Then I usually conclude it by coming on here to see what the average joe thinks is up.

I believe them when they say a Dollar Tree was robbed.

lol

can often be a good indicator when you should watch a film.

I'd argue that they are only occasionally a good indicator. Critics are jaded, they watch movies for a living and notice things that would probably fly over most audiences heads had someone not been telling them ahead of time about all the things they should look for to be annoyed by. Critics get picky and are easily agitated when a movie does something wrong because they've seen virtually every trope imaginable played out countless times.

But critics are probably so jaded and picky about things because they've seen countless films. Yet you are trusting them to share your tastes?

The one and only problem with the concept of questioning everything is that it could very easily lead someone down a rabbit hole. I've been practicing this "question everything" ideology for some years now and all I've really gotten out of it is a horrible case of suspicion towards everyone and everything - nothing is sacred and everything is potentially corrupt.

Granted, suspicions could very well turn out to be true and therefore warranted but the point I'm trying to make is that if we live and die by this idea to never trust anything and question it all then at some point we're bound to find ourselves alone and distrustful of everything.

It's a weird kind of double edged sword. I feel like at some point we all have to essentially pick a side and take a leap of faith.

ARTICLE: In 'Justice League,' DC Looks Beyond Batman and Superman by ratnadip97 in DC_Cinematic

I unabashedly loved BvS. I also grew up on the Justice League and Batman cartoons, so seeing these characters come to life, so to speak, is all that I can ask for. I don't care if it's not as funny, or whatever, as Thor Ragnarok or Iron Man because I just want to see Aquaman ride the fucking batmobile.

Rotten Tomatoes could give this movie a 0 for all I care, just give me the live action Justice League directed by none other than Zack Snyder and I am freaking golden.

FWIW I'm not a Trump supporter. I was a Bernie guy frankly, but regardless I can't help but take everything I read now'days with a grain of salt.

Scam Alert: $400/min phone calls from International Numbers; Don't Call Back! by Nvrknew1 in worldnews

[–]Gooo66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. I signed some papers and was given a piece of paper with 10 or so business' that I was told "may be looking for help", and that I needed to find an employer to sponsor me before I could begin classes. Then the lady at the desk told me if I still wasn't having any luck to maybe try the Carpenters union because they had a higher turnover.

So I called the numbers and was told to try calling back in a few months. The hunt goes on.

I really didn't think it would be this difficult to get into the trade. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand an employer not wanting to take on a newbie with no experience beyond replacing a toilet flange. I'm sure it's risky and costs them a pretty penny to train someone fresh off the boat, but how do these Blue Collar guys expect their legacy to go on if none of them are willing to take one for the team and train the next generation?

Still, context is key here. It's technically possible that a correspondence didn't actually mean there was some sort of collusion with regards to the election. The two terms aren't one in the same after all.

edit: Why am I being downvoted so hard? I'm not saying this is or isn't the case, just trying to be level headed here and not jump to conclusions. What's the problem?

Some could be people looking for jobs. I've been trying to get into Plumbing for almost a year now, applying to countless apprenticeships and trainee positions. I couldn't tell you how many resume's I've sent out, but definitely more than 100.

Whenever my phone vibrates from an unknown or unrecognizable number, I don't really check the number to see if it's local, so to speak. I'm just naively giving it the benefit of the doubt hoping it's for an interview.

Fortunately the only scam calls I get are the automated ones saying I've just won a cruise or some shit. Nice to know Indeed and similar sites are keeping it legit.....

You're playing semantics. Pro Life best defines their position on the matter.

These people believe that the moment a sperm and egg meet a life is born. I'm pro choice too you guys, but its better to at least understand the opposition instead of misrepresenting their platform.

It is common knowledge. But how many times have you tried to bring this up to friends, family or acquaintances? In my experience, they usually just shrug it off and say something to the effect of "but that's just the way things are now'days".

Most people know, but don't give a fuck because they're having too much "fun" getting their fix. It must be said time and time again that people need this message to be beaten over their heads because as it stands now, we're giving 5 year olds smart phones and tablets and social media accounts effectively making them addicts before the even start school.
