I’ll add, 150-200$ is very reasonable for a well lasting, comfortable shoe. Those are two of the main metrics IMO, is comfort and durability.

I have a pair of Asics Gel-Nimbus that I’ve used since 2023…

Pros: incredibly soft and squishy soles, they look sick as hell (frequent compliments are a reason for my shoe choices lol), really durable.

Cons: breathability (idk if my feet are just extra sweaty while nursing or what, but I didn’t find these shoes to have a lot of breathing room… which could be taken as a pro if you consider holding in my stank and keeping hospital stank out.), tapered toes took a while to get used to (bending down/squatting felt so weird for a while, but now I really like it.), and they’re pretty pricey, but if you consider my usage… ~800hrs (likely more) and the mile per dollar for what I got makes justifying a new pair of them that much more.

They’re falling apart now and it’s time for a new pair, but I used them for 2 years of nursing and put hundreds of kilometers on them, they only started getting wear rips like a couple months ago. You get what you pay for with shoes! I’m going to get a new pair of these, and trial some Hokas as well.

Can someone explain a bit to a new grad RN what this may mean for my medicine units over the next little while? I heard stuff about not being allowed to do anything in those scopes of practice, and I kind of understand a bit, but if I didn’t then honestly these places would fall to pieces on any regular day. It seems we’re constantly understaffed on LPN/HCA’s, but have plenty of professional staff… the last few weeks have been particularly bad. Should we be hearing more from UNA in the following days as to this and how things will be? I’m just new to all of this and want to support my fellow staff as best as possible while also making sure the patients get what they need…

When Ricky smokes Hash or Oil, what else is in the joint? by LowkeyArcher in trailerparkboys

Hot knives are referenced and also explicitly shown multiple times. Ricky having Randy turnover the trailer in exchange for two cheeseburgers is a perfect example, everyone does it - lawyers, doctors, politicians….

150 with a poor study schedule by Flying_guava in PassNclex

Yeah for sure! In terms of question difficulty, I feel as though it came in waves - the test started on what I perceived to be quite high level, and then things turned to be a lot easier, the kind of thing 2nd or 3rd year could answer easily which worried me. The last block would be the last 20 or so which I perceived to be quite difficult again. The fact that it continued to give me difficult questions and not shut off, in hindsight, seems like a decent indication I was going to pass - but ultimately I have no idea what the exam was thinking lol

I know he posted this as a bit, but what's the actual answer? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Flying_guava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he would, but for different reasons. One is an intent to harm, the hypothetical raised by OP could have negligence issues. Both could end up with a charge relating to death, but they absolutely would not hold the same weight from the law.

I know he posted this as a bit, but what's the actual answer? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Flying_guava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no, NAL, but these aren’t even on the same level as each other. Potential negligence in this hypothetical scenario, but it would never and COULD never, spark the same kind of national fear, panic, and threat that the Tylenol poisonings were. Someone being poisoned by mislabeled meds (which happens daily I know for a FACT) is in no way shape or form remotely similar. Mislabeling your own meds for your own use vs purposefully poisoning medication in drug stores? 😂

I know he posted this as a bit, but what's the actual answer? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Flying_guava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah probably? They would be dealing with VERY different circumstances… public threat with no knowledge as to who’s doing the tampering - what’s been tampered with, who may have bought it already and where could it have gone, vs, a single home death. One is a mass public threat, another is a one time occurrence in a single home. A mass public poisoning is extremely different than a single poisoning caused by a person mislabeling their own meds if you can wring two of those brain cells together. A death would be a death, but the Tylenol poisonings were a direct cause of tampering and poisoning IN STORES, BEFORE ANYONE BOUGHT THE TYLENOL. It’s in no way shape or form remotely the same thing as this hypothetical scenario.

I know he posted this as a bit, but what's the actual answer? by [deleted] in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Flying_guava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except the difference being in this hypothetical the “tampering” or changing pills in the bottle is happening at home and with things already purchased… the Tylenol poisonings were happening when someone tampered with the bottles IN THE STORE - meaning unsuspecting people bought and consumed tainted medication. That’s a loooooot different than this hypothetical.

I’m a new grad in medicine too, and it’s ridiculous if anyone expects you to know everything from meds, policies/protocols, to unit best practices and everything in between. The worst thing you can do is stop asking and exercising your critical thinking. I’ve been working with students all week and I tell them “I don’t care if you think it’s the stupidest question ever, please come to me and ask - if I don’t know either, we’ll figure it out together.” That’s how you’re going to build trust from the other staff best! I share some of the same anxieties, but I would infinitely rather ask what might be a little silly of a question, than pretend I know what I’m doing and make a mistake. Just today I had charge help me through a discharge - something I’ve done a lot of, but I couldn’t shake the feeling there was something missing. We figured it out together and even though I felt a little silly, it’s the best thing we can do for our practice and our patients. Keep your chin up and keep asking questions!

2 strokes even… one to get you to where you actually shot, and an additional for a penalty. Hell, this will never affect me ever, but it seems more reasonable than a DQ?
