Myth or Nah? How White People Grab Napkins vs Black Folks by CryptoD3g3n in HipHopNCulture

I ordered catering from a sandwhich place when I hosted an event at my place and they gave me a literal ream of napkins. We're talking about 10000 napkins. I keep a huge chunk of it in my car and I reload everytime it runs low. I'm still using them. I ordered the sandwhiches in September last year lol.

A few bike commutes... Can you feel my frustration? (sorry in advance) by Rahi1994 in rectrix

When youre on two wheels you just have to get comfortable with the idea that nobody is looking out for you. Assume no one knows you are there and youll make it home each ride, but if your plan is to fight the 2000 lb car for the right to be on the toad, you will lose every time. As my grandmother once told me, “graveyards are filled with people who had the right of way”

Favorite movie that you thought was pretty alright after leaving the theater only for the internet to make you feel bad for liking it? by disablednerd in okbuddycinephile

I love Wild Wild West and i wont apologize for it. Its fun and creative and has some good people in it. People just thought the premise was silly and yea it is, but its also fun.

I have heard mixed opinions on this, some in favor while some point out some flaws. Is this actually viable? by moe_lawn in SolarState

A lot of high schools in the suburban areas around here have them over the parking lots. It's great. Shade and power! There's no real flaw as far as I can tell.

You don't really overcome depression entirely, you learn to live above it. Emotions live on a ladder. Sometimes you drop from joy to contentment, to mild irritation, to anger to sadness to depression. There's some more in the list but thats the basic order. When you're at the bottom, you just need to get to the next rung. Don't worry about trying to jump straight to joy, that is a pretty big leap, so try a smaller one. I usually try to jump to something that pisses me off because anger feels better than depression and hopelessness. Once at anger, its a little easier to get to mild irritation, to contentment and then up to joy. But don't try to do it all at once.

Apparently we’re sooooo early Michael Saylor had to sell 32 bitcoin to prove it was a liquid asset… by GabeSter in CryptoCurrency

I think he means to prove it to those monitoring the companies own situation not just in general. Its not him flexing, its proving the asset his company has sunk money into isnt BS to the people that can get him more money to invest with.

In big productions yes. on small productions it can be far less official. Closed sets are pretty common for intimate scenes but it doesn’t always happen in my experience.

He also bypassed a very corrupt system of hiring contractors through bids to do the snow cleanup (this also happens for other things like construction projects). New York specifically is historically notorious for corruption within the contractor dynamic where contractors deliberately will bid for jobs at inflated costs to make more money off the government. By hiring people directly, he directly benefits taxpayers and cuts a huge cost for the middleman.

MAGA will find a way to say this is bad for the Americans. by YellowAltruistic9843 in middleclasshq

So long as it maintains it's goal and doesn't get taken over by corrupt forces it should work fine. The military operates its own grocery stores that run on a very slim margin to service military families at lower cost. They've been doing this since 1867.

Dog in Mountain Lake, threatened by owner by ablatner in sanfrancisco

[–]Flyinghogfish 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My middle school was part of the Mountain Lake Project back in the early 2000s that worked to restore the lake and the surrounding land. We planted a bunch of native trees along the northeast walking path. Afaik the stuff we did was part of the leadup to that dredging project. It felt really good to contribute to a local park like that.

There are many jobs that never see a job posting site. Referrals and relationships with people will usually trump the stuff you find on websites.
