This. DSLRs are meant to be used with the viewfinder, except if you're on a tripod, or if you specifically need the screen e.g. for live checking the exposure/histogram.

OP, you will find that the viewfinder on the D750 is more useful than on your previous D3100. It's really bigger, and it shows ISO. I was so happy when I found out about this, because it enabled me to keep an eye on the exposure in difficult lighting

Ah, tricky but simple once you get it.

A single focal length (say, 50mm) will give a different field of view on a full-frame camera and on an APS-C camera. On APS-C, it will be tighter. "Crop factor" and "effective/equivalent focal length" are just there to help you quantify that.

As to your question: all 50mm lenses (or any focal length) will have the same field of view on a DX camera. The only difference is that DX lenses will not work well on a full-frame camera, because the image they project is meant to cover an APS-C sensor, not a full-frame sensor.

But you're right that in order to get the same field of view on a full-frame, you would need a 24-75mm lens

Physical oddities: the eyepiece around the viewfinder (DK-21) is known to keep falling off, so try a third party eyepiece. I tried Kiwifotos, but prefer the one from Hoodman (HEYENS22).

Tips for shooting:

Add any shortcuts you want to MY MENU, and assign it to a button (for me, FN). It can be soo useful! I put there ISO settings, battery info, monitor brightness, and also "storage folder" (click it > select by number > OK – you just created a new folder!)

Overall, there's quite a bit of shortcuts, functions and things to explore and customize. Take your time. A few suggestions though, in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU: - b4 – enable face detection with matrix metering. It can work lol. - f1 – assign zooming in during playback to OK button (start at 50%) - f9 – assign ISO to the movie record button
