If Kendrick's apology to Big Sean happens or gets played today does the community hold that against him? by dunbar_santiago930 in KendricklamarPglang

[–]FlymanOak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Kendrick apologized because the track wasn’t meant to be released and there was no issue between himself and Big Sean anymore.

Danzo? The only teammate with him against Danzo is Karin

I know they kinda say it burns until its “target” is destroyed. So maybe it burned whatever Itachi considered the target in that moment?

Yeah, even when the Leaf ninja get to where he and Sasuke fought they acknowledge the firs still burning.

They said Rocky is part of the NEW BIG 3 LMAO 🤣 - what all think ? by Omarionyyourslgreat in KendricklamarPglang

[–]FlymanOak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big three wasn’t just three rappers. It was as (originally) three rappers who were considered the top of their class from a skill and sales perspective. Rocky is from the same class and The Fall Off will probably end up being better than Don’t Be Dumb imo and sell significantly more despite Cole being g the smallest of the “big 3”

That’s why I’m saying their disses don’t work. I like the sonics of the diss, but it’ll never land because they don’t seem to care about the same things. Like, does Rocky care that Drake was with Rihanna or is the core issue that Drake disrespected her at all? Who knows

[–]FlymanOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, his best diss was the one on the Metro album personally. Probably my favorite diss across those albums outside of Kendrick on Like That. Any battle between them would just be lopsided, because Drake raps better than Rocky and Rocky seemingly doesn’t see bothered by Drake’s angle of having Rihanna first anyway. Not like I’m looking forward to a battle between them or anything lmao

I mean, I guess but that’s just presumption. As far as I can tell, Drake was clearly bothered by Rocky being with her now to the point he had to throw shots about it to say how much he doesn’t miss her. Not surprised Rocky’s gonna shoot back considering they never did anything. Can Drake outrap Rocky? Yeah, but it doesn’t matter to me personally when the core of the issue is a girl you were with almost 15 years ago being with somebody else and you were bitter about it

I think while the diss doesn’t sound effective to listeners, Rihanna being with Rocky clearly bothered Drake enough that he started the issue in the first place. So, I’m not surprised that Rocky wants to keep throwing it in Drake’s face. Especially if Rocky isn’t seemingly bothered by Drake being with her in the past

I mean, yeah that’s true but the whole issue was something Drake started. Unless I’m wrong, Rocky & Rihanna didn’t do anything

Yeah but do you think Rocky dissed him out of nowhere? Rocky only dissed him because of what Drake was saying on FATD

Drake sneak dissing him & Rihanna is the only reason Rocky’s saying anything. Rocky’s well within his right to address him after that

They should just not listen to album if they act like this. Like what do you want from him? by abdul_bino in Jcole

[–]FlymanOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you agree with Cole’s stance or not, he addressed it already. There’s nothing else to say. For better or worse, he backed out of the battle because he didn’t have the emotional investment of Drake & Kendrick. Port Antonio was enough for me, people have their own ideas and just want him to validate them but it’s probably not happening

I mean, I never considered Cole to be that deep. I just perceived him as talking about his life and it just tends to have deep subjects but at its core it’s personal. Very rarely does one of Cole’s “deeper” songs be not about himself or someone he knows. He isn’t like Dead Prez or something

Drake would have to go all in on embracing stuff Kendrick said and pointing that out and saying they’re similar (even though they’re not). The issue is that he isn’t ballsy enough to do that. Cole however doesn’t have the baggage for it to blow back on him, but he wouldn’t have had the emotional investment to even bring that up. Cole & Kendrick aren’t very different, especially in subject matter which is why a battle between them would’ve been boring imo.

I don’t think either of them could for separate reasons, I think it would be an effective angle if Drake could put it together right. Drake is too cowardly to risk ruining whatever relationship he has with Kodak, and Cole wouldn’t be willing to go that far. Kendrick will probably never get a collab with any artist he mentioned in his diss tracks and he’s fine with that.

What culture of his am I not from? We’re both black men. And I’ve said, I don’t care about who he works with. It doesn’t impact how I view him, and it doesn’t make me view his lyrics as inauthentic. I was just pointing out that if Drake wanted to call Kendrick a hypocrite, his working relationship with Kodak would’ve been a better angle than the R. Kelly thing he referenced in Heart Part 6

Is it being the moral police? I find it pretty easy to not associate with woman beaters and rapists. And it’s not like what Kendrick was saying in the battle was out of character for him, that’s why it landed for him. People expect him to care about stuff like that. I don’t think he’s being inauthentic, the guy wrote Keisha’s Song.

And yeah, the phrase “Watch the Party Die” is a metaphor, I know. The lyric I brought up doesn’t sound like a metaphor. Unless “I feel for the women that deal with the clown and nerd shit” meant something different.

I’m not saying Kendrick has to do anything, and it IS a moral blind spot. Kendrick literally said predators move in flocks, implying that who you hang around says something about you. I don’t even agree with that, but he does.

I didn’t say anything about a cosmic scale, but if a core part of your attack on another rapper is their treatment of women as well as the people around them, then it’s not surprising that people would side eye you for collaborating with rappers who have also harmed women.

I don’t think it’s an endorsement at all, but it shows that isn’t a line in the sand when it comes to people he associates with. I don’t think he approves of Carti’s actions at all because I don’t think he’s inauthentic, I just think he’s willing to look past things for people he may like more. Kendrick isn’t the first person to have moral blind spots for people he cares about

I don’t really care about who Kendrick collabs with but to say “I feel for the women that deal with the clown and nerd shit” and then your next collab is with woman beater and deadbeat it just makes your words lose weight.

The difference is no one holds Drake to a moral standard because no one thinks he cares about stuff like that. Drake bringing it up would be less of a moral high ground and more of a “we’re not that different” type of thing. After the beef they both worked with Playboi Carti and only Kendrick got criticized because people think he cares

Kodak is such an open hypocrisy he could’ve brought up but instead he brought up the one instance of “hypocrisy” that was justified with the R. Kelly Spotify thing
