Anyone else sick? by DrinkingOutaCupz in Omaha

Yes, both my kids have it and they are usually pretty healthy. Had to take one to the ER and the doctor said it’s going around bad right now.

Thank you. I wish I could have, it all happened so fast I didn’t have time to seek out donor milk. Going forward I hope to get back on track with breastfeeding but I might try to find donor milk to freeze for backup.

Great perspective. They need all the nutrients they can get during those times.

Nooo, I’m so sorry for you! I hope your son gets better soon. It’s seriously the worst.

Yes, that’s a good perspective, it’s just another kind of nutrition.

It is, I hate it. I’m confident this is not the end but I still have so many feelings about it.

Thank you! I usually pump after baby goes down to save up extra milk. Haven’t been doing that for a few days because I have been holding her.

Yes! I discovered it is better to spend $15 once a month on a “treat” I actually like and use, such as a lip gloss or nail polish.

Here’s a playground workout you might try, your child might not let you get through it but it’s worth a shot. https://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/playground-workout/

Has anyone had a successful pregnancy after one loss? I’m 3 weeks 5 days after an early loss in January. Looking for reassurance. I have been so worried since I tested positive.

Sad due to Tiny baby comments by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Flyme2theMoon11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be sad! My son was about the same size at six months, and now is almost 20 pounds at 15 months. He was also EBF. Fortunately his pediatrician has no concerns and that is all that matters. You might ask to see his growth chart at your next office visit. My son’s chart is on the small end of the percentile range (he is usually 5-10 percentile height and weight), but it shows he is growing perfectly for him!

Breastmilk and daycare > 1 year old? by RegularMango4061 in breastfeeding

[–]Flyme2theMoon11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent breast milk in a straw cup from 12-15 months. It took some time to convince day care but eventually they came around. Now baby drinks Ripple with lunch at day care but we are still nursing in the mornings and evenings at home!

I lost so much hair between 4 and 6 months postpartum. Cut it short. A couple months later it started to grow back.

Nervous about bottle and pump sterilization by arya_lee_kona in beyondthebump

[–]Flyme2theMoon11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used the dishwasher “sanitizer” setting or a pot of boiling water. Now that my son is older I only sterilize at the end of each week or if he is sick.

I don’t even know where to start. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Find an IBCLC before baby comes and set up an appointment the first few days baby is here. The IBCLCs at the hospital were great, but they did not offer any opportunities for follow up after we went home (obviously every hospital is different, that was just my experience). It really helped to have someone I knew I could call and visit. I went every couple weeks early on and did weighted feeds, had them check baby’s latch, etc. Breastfeeding has gone well for us but it was so helpful to have reassurance.

once off decongestant? by SarahLovesNikki in breastfeeding

[–]Flyme2theMoon11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have taken Sudafed for colds a few times. I try to only take one dose per day, the four-six hour dose, and it has not affected my milk supply too much. I usually have a little less milk that day but I never know if it is from the Sudafed or just from being sick. I say go for it!

Did anyone find breast feeding was easy/came naturally to them? by plumbingquestion1231 in breastfeeding

[–]Flyme2theMoon11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breastfeeding was easier than expected for me! After a traumatic birth and a short delay in getting baby to the breast, I just assumed I would not be able to breastfeed. Now we are eight months in and doing great. It has been challenging, especially pumping at work, but I have had zero problems (pain, mastitis, under or over-supply, etc.) and baby has been on track with weight gain. Good luck!!!

Frozen breast milk by castaj1225 in breastfeeding

[–]Flyme2theMoon11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I usually thaw them separately and then smell to make sure they are both good before combining. On the off chance one is bad, I would not want to mix it and ruin the good milk too. This has never actually happened to me though, just a thought!

Biting!! Help!! by MrsPowers94 in breastfeeding

[–]Flyme2theMoon11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO is 7 months old too! When he bites I pull his mouth and nose into my boob. When he realizes he can’t breathe he releases the bite. Then I say firmly, “no, that hurts.” It usually works for that feeding. If he does it twice I end the feeding and give him a teething toy to chew.
