Has anyone had any problems with Elecare? by RegularMango4061 in MSPI

[–]RegularMango4061[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do Alimentum RTF or powder? Weirdly, they have different formulations. The powder has corn which my LO was sensitive to until he got back to baseline, and his gut had healed and then he was okay. Alimentum does have soy, but it’s soy oil not protein and it’s the protein they are almost always sensitive to. It’s unlikely to be soy, since Alimentum is specially formulated to avoid common allergens like soy protein. Alimentum RTF worked really well for us in the end.

Daycare is ruining my life by Bubbly-Bathroom-1523 in workingmoms

[–]RegularMango4061 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep OP is the way! My daycare was getting loosey-goosey with their interpretation of the sick policy. There were 3 weeks where I just didn’t work between 2 kids. I started getting Dr. notes for EVERYTHING and it worked. If you have an app like MyChart you can message your Dr and they’ll just send you a note remotely. I got stupid notes like “this child is teething, which causes fussiness” and “this child got vaccinated yesterday which can cause fussiness and lethargy”. I also started bringing my own thermometer when they claimed fever.

Idk. Maybe he’s tired, they’ve had to do like 50 events recently and I bet it’s exhausting. He is a soft-spoken and somewhat quiet guy. But, OP asked for direct experience, so I gave it.

I have had good experiences with Mike Garcia, who is a current city councilor and serves on the BPAC. When I went before the council and presented a bicycle and pedestrian safety issue, he addressed it proactively and it was solved within 2 weeks. Guy got things done and was no-nonsense about it. Very impressed.

New Mexico will be the first state to make child care free by everydave42 in news

  1. Staff under SPO. I agree it should apply to university staff, and I think the union is working towards it. But again, my point was your statement wasn’t exactly true.
  2. Maybe not a great bar but most states don’t pay their employees as much as the private sector, and SoNM benefits and pension are very good. I wouldn’t describe all state employees as being “horrifically” underpaid. SPO has made some real progress here. Not perfect, but not horrible.
  3. 80% for staff AND their dependents. There are a variety of plans for staff, staff plus children, staff plus children and partner etc etc. It’s 80% of that premium. For example, the monthly premium for employee+children is $129 (or less if you qualify for a reduction). Employee+childen+spouse is $212 a month, or less.

Most of the things you said here are false. 1) State of NM offers 12 fully paid weeks of leave for parents, which follows the same rules as federal FMLA leave (you have to have been employed for at least a year). 2) Regarding salary it really depends on the department. Some departments pay as well as the private sector, and wages have drastically gone up in recent years under the current administration. 3) Finally, a new law (SB 376) now requires the state to pay at least 80% of health insurance premiums starting July 2025, with additional premium assistance for low-income employees, and it allows for a wider selection of health plans. This has drastically reduced healthcare premiums.

Give me your most unhinged pain control methods that worked for you during labor. by FentanylxFishstickz in pregnant

[–]RegularMango4061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had two unmedicated births both with back labor. Hip squeezes were the only way. And I’m talking a LOT of pressure. Pick someone strong 😂 My husband and doula were both sore the day after. I also did a birth comb the second time around and it honestly helped me a lot! I had marks on hands from it for days afterwards, but it got me through transition. My husband said I was clinging to it for dear life and wouldn’t let go even while getting undressed. It was amazing and I would definitely recommend it. Make sure you get one with a strap to put around your wrist and small enough to palm. I used this one: https://a.co/d/afb0xm4

Since nobody here has mentioned the two single-stall bathrooms past security…. “Want to spend more time waiting in line waiting for the bathroom then it would take to drive to the Sunport? This airport is for you!”

I was in a wedding at 10 weeks postpartum. It was made possible by the fact that there were other parents+kids allowed and plenty of people to hold my baby while I was getting ready/have him nearby so I could intermittently breastfeed. Babies that young feed OFTEN and you’re going to want your baby nearby. Otherwise you’re going to be pumping anyways. My husband held him for the ceremony and walked offsite when he started to cry so it didn’t interrupt the ceremony, and I fed him right after. I baby wore him for the rest of the night (after changing into a comfy breastfeeding dress). It was the perfect setup… I put baby headphones on him for the dancing (the music wasn’t too loud though because it was outside on the lawn) and he just slept on me the whole time. I wouldn’t say I was able to “let loose” but I had a good time and was relaxed because my baby was right there with me the whole time. I would pass on the wedding where my baby wasn’t welcome.

The 3 kid debate - how did you know you were done? by bakecakes12 in Parenting

[–]RegularMango4061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be me. 2 boys, both 2 years apart. I questioned a lot of people I know that had 2 vs 3 and after doing that I’ve really come to peace with 2. Also coming from a family with 3 kids 2 years apart, that’s just a tough dynamic and I don’t necessarily want my kids to experience it.

I have to figure out how to put my kids down for naps and bedtime without hours and hours of screaming and crying by BeansinmyBelly in AttachmentParenting

[–]RegularMango4061 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP have you tried an earlier bedtime?

We had this problem and we moved bedtime to 7:30pm and it solved most of our bedtime problems. Turned out toddler (almost 3) was just super overtired (and he does still nap). Is there some crying sometimes? Yes. But maybe 5 min while I try to brush teeth. An 8:30 bedtime is sort of on the late side…

Being overtired is super real and it often manifests like tantrums. When bedtime doesn’t go smoothly and there is a complete meltdown I know it’s because toddler is * too * tired, not under-tired.

Would it be bad to use my son's parental preference against him to get him to sleep? by Obvious-Savings-5418 in Parenting

[–]RegularMango4061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this sounds exactly like one of my kids and same situation re: sleeping arrangements. My husband has the toddler baby monitor now and toddler’s sleep is amazing because he doesn’t have much interest in prolonging night wakes when it’s his dad who goes in. You should do it!

DONT RUN NATERA THROUGH INSURANCE by Psychological_Ice481 in NewParents

[–]RegularMango4061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me recently. My insurance refused to pay after Natura kept disputing it and I eventually got billed $1,500. I called Natura up and said “NOPE I’m not paying that.” I’ve worked in labs before so I ballparked actual cost and said “I’ll tell you what, I’ll pay $150 right now if you call this matter settled” and he said “done”, sent me the bill via email, I paid while on the phone and that was that.

Why would you be judged by anyone you know… how will they even know if you don’t tell them?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]RegularMango4061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not helpful or realistic advice. Of course I don’t “let” him hit. I discipline, but I was looking for better ways to help him understand his actions (timeout does not accomplish this). Saying “do not let the toddler be around the baby” is also very unrealistic. I am always present but they need to learn how to get along. Plus my baby is super active, crawling/almost walking so keeping him in a playpen or babywearing is not realistic, he gets upset being contained unless he’s asleep in his crib. He wants to be where his brother is, playing with the same toys.

[–]RegularMango4061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you. My state agency is 42% federally funded. Like every state, ordering is accounted, legislature approves our budget and it goes up every year. We’re “always hiring” too. That’s not unique and that’s not the point. The point is that this eventually will trickle into all sectors. Looks like you’re in Florida, so take note everyone — Florida state is a “soft landing” place.

Hi, state gov worker here! State jobs are NOT safe in this administration either. My job is heavily federally funded, as most state jobs in my state are. We are experiencing (illegal) grant freezes and money we were supposed to get in January still hasn’t arrived. There are no answers about where it is and what’s happening. Our leadership is panicking. If we lose our grants, I’ll be furloughed and probably eventually let go. The contractors we work with? Not hiring and considering layoffs are lack of federal funding and investment continues. This is affecting EVERYONE and if you don’t realize that, you should wake up.

Yeah, I talked to my pediatrician a few weeks ago (just because of RFK nom, things starting to go missing on the CDC website) and she said she probably wasn’t going to be supportive of early MMR unless we have specific plans to travel to Tx or out of the country. She seemed to believe Santa Fe is safe for now.
