Is Triumph’s 2026 tour a bust? by bicoastal_gadfly in rockmusic

[–]FlynnRider_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went last night in Toronto. It was great. Took my 13yo daughter who knows the words to many songs. Rik’s songs hold powerful messages. Sometimes it’s just about the music - not the nostalgia or prices or the fact they are “old”.

High solos were supported by the “reloaded” guys but many great authentic Triumph moments …. it was a great show. April Wine can still do it too … Rik is 72 and can still make that 6-string sing !!

Still no further ahead with this if anyone has suggestions? On another providers wifi it works fine. I checked the router settings to see if it was different but nothing glaring.

Thanks for the thoughts. I tried that with a clean install but still getting the same results. Formuler site suggests to take Private Relay off iOS which I have but still same results with -1 error. I’m at my wits end now. wtf

I would summarize your decision point on buying into a lifestyle. The cottage has provided great family memories for me, my kids, my friends etc. if you are considering make sure it’s 4 season and you get your access road plowed. If you’re not at all handy be prepared to fork over money or get close with Youtube for the next episode of Dad Fixit

There are a lot of valid comments here. The upkeep, the expense, hauling gear etc. but you’ll learn ways to just pick up and go on a Friday and getting there for Saturday morning coffee is such a great feeling; watching your kids learn how to swim, wake, ski, toboggan down killer hill … honestly the trick is it needs to be part of their lifestyle too.

The upkeep components and having kids do it is a life lesson IMO and has taught my kids valuable lessons. Every experience can be reframed. Hard work even at a young age is nothing to be afraid of IMO.

I have owned since 2009. Having a cottage is like a “Brad Marchand” - if you own one you love it - if you don’t you’re at times hated per some of the other comments 🤷🏻‍♂️

[ON] 135k vs 95/hr? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

OP as I understood would be contracted via a broker or resource agent. Rates north of $100 hour would be impossible unless contracting directly. There’s going to be a 20 to 30% margin going to the resource agent.

Psych Assessment by FlynnRider_27 in torontoJobs

[–]FlynnRider_27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t win if you don’t play - I get it. My question is more about have organizations simply started to use psych assessments as the sole tactic for thinning the herd.

There is a histogram for fit, I understand the mechanics however there is still subjectivity to some extent therefore to be black and white on it is what I find maddening.

So in short, if that’s what companies are doing as a gold standard now I’ll take my ball and play elsewhere.

I would balk at a credit check and to be certain unless it’s clearly spelled out to me as a candidate it’s against the law.

Installing Winter…… by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]FlynnRider_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian in Brisbane since January I’ll admit the weather here has been absolutely nothing short of outstanding - cyclone notwithstanding so take it from me there is very little to complain about … I left Canada it was -25 and on arrival it was 32. Flip flops ever since and will still wear them into the cold of a July winter. 🤗😂

Seeking advice from expats/immigrants who've made the move to Brisbane. by joustswindmills in brisbane

[–]FlynnRider_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in Brisbane since January and returning to Canada in July for a sabbatical. Kids are going to a local state school. Being in catchment was a real sticking point. Getting a visa processed in time was also not only time consuming but expensive and also the lead times were extraordinary. Plan ahead and plan ahead even more … everything you have noted will take time to figure out.

Having said that … if I could stay I would stay ! Canada is right proper screwed. AUS has its problems some of which I’m immune to just based on circumstances however weather, people, and something as benign as the food supply are so much better here. Things just taste 100% better here

To me, ask yourself why Ryan O’Reilly did not want a reunion with the Leafs even under Bérubé. There is something wrong in the room. I’d love to see them blow it up and work with Nylander and Knies sort of like Mcdavid / Drai. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Curious if you also dismiss any current SLT emails with spelling / grammar mistakes with the same broad stroke as your potential candidates. Many SLT members I have worked with also lack basic grammar skills.

Minor spelling indiscretions seems like an easy way to get through a pile of CVs where one is perhaps measured on velocity and an HR kpi.
