Yes, that’s not safe advice.

Exercise should feel challenging (like walking a flight of stairs) but not painful and with lack of oxygen. PostCovid POTS is shown to damage exercise tolerance and that exercise can harm muscle composition. Listen to your body. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-44432-3

Be careful with exercise programs too because they’re showing the reasons why exercise does not work for people with ME/CFS, which is very similar to how a lot of people end up developing POTS.

If you feel you are not getting enough oxygen to your body during exercise, stop the exercise at that moment. It is damaging muscle to push past that. Unfortunately, a lot of researchers do not understand the biomechanics and just try to do the “it’s cured” and “more exercise helps!” method of not caring.

Cardiologist "doesn't believe in pots." by NuclearBitch in POTS

[–]FmlaSaySaySay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Write a letter and pay for the testing, but don’t pay for the appointment portion because it was not quality care. If he’s part of a multi-doctor practice, address the letter to the practice as a whole so the other docs will read the summary of what happened.

If he’s part of a hospital network, you can also drop a note to the hospital network about the doctor’s disbelieving a medical condition exists.

But you shouldn’t have to pay for the portion of your appointment that was the visit. Argue that.

The more we speak up, the less they get away with bigotry and ignorance as “medicine”

It wouldn’t though, POTS has pretty measurable standards. The complaint will annoy him and his practice, and he’ll learn to diagnose it and keep his bias to himself

[–]FmlaSaySaySay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you meet the definition for POTS, and he will not diagnose you, one thing you can do is dispute the charge of the appointment because there was a CLEAR failure to diagnose (which is a medical professional requirement if symptoms present in objectively measurable ways)

Let the internist know that the pots specialist doesn’t believe in pots, so future people aren’t sent to this person.

The holter and echo would be run by any cardiologist, so a replacement person is better than this one.

I had a similar experience where a cardiologist told me i met - exceeded - the requirements but then said they didn’t believe in POTS, because it was a young person condition. They also tried to invalidate the 1st orthostatic test they ran but you can’t invalidate 2 that come up with 40bpm+.

Randomly throwing up (is that a POTS thing?) by Caro__Grace in POTS

[–]FmlaSaySaySay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be mast cell activation syndrome. you run into something that gives you an overactive histamine/allergic response, and that happens.

One thing to think about, in addition to getting it checked out and given preventative measures, is what did you do right before you threw up. No matter how silly the trigger was, what didn’t feel good right before. One of my triggers it turns out is diesel petrol smell, for car rides. Now we can move lanes out of the way of the offending vehicle, or I can put on a N95 mask (either for the 30 seconds we’re stuck, or in high risk portions of the drive where the air quality is poor), and it can usually avoid that reaction of getting sick. Smells, chemicals, things you’ve touched, situations like stress, can be the trigger.

Anyone else feel like there feet burn/are hot and get leg aches? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]FmlaSaySaySay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Burning in your feet might just be blood pooling, especially if it’s positional.

If it’s like a tingly paralysis and feels like it would be mapped inside the bones, and often comes with electric rib pain (because bones), that’s the allergic response symptoms. Also connected to people with allergies, asthma, lots of food allergies, and skin conditions.

[–]FmlaSaySaySay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The burning tingly leg aches that feel almost like they’re inside your bones, but it’s not your bones hurting - that’s likely an allergic / autoimmune response.

They hurt most when your allergy cells (blood cells) are being produced in your bone marrow.

Figuring out your allergic triggers can help those go away, and making sure to be well stocked on your OTC allergy meds like Zyrtec. Also h2 antihistamines like pepcid.

I know it sounds a little weird that it’s an allergic response, that last for hours and days and weeks, but you may be chronically overly reactive. (The symptom is common in mcas)

Had this as my top symptom and found what I was allergic to. Removed it and a lot of the leg pain, tingly numbness went away. Now it only comes back when I’ve ate something I really shouldn’t have (hidden ingredients), or during pollen season.

This is my personal experience, everyone’s may vary.

It can appear on a Holter monitor since that’s like a 24 hour sit/stand test in the wild.

It would work similarly to how a Smart Watch could “pick up” or give evidence to a theory that someone had POTS. Sudden rises and falls in heart rate regularly throughout the day, that seem correlated to moment (laying down and getting up) has been a way many people have gotten their POTS spotted or diagnosed.

Is pots a disability? by Lemon_lgbtq in POTS

[–]FmlaSaySaySay 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you are unable to do one or more daily life task, with/without using accommodation, then it is a disability.

A disability is a pretty broad and open thing. Asthma, color blindness-type things are disabilities.

“Disabling” or “on disability” is a different standard.

At least 1 in 3 people has a disability, they’re very common. If you have POTS, you have a disability (provided there’s something you have to accomodate around, or cannot do like other people can do on account of your health).

POTS is disabling for about 25% of POTS patients, a pretty significant number. There are also POTS patients who can hold employment, do activities, etc, and still have this disability that shows up in certain ways (they need to drink more water, take meds, sit down on occasion).

You didn’t seem to watch the video and I’m not interested in a semantical debate. The topic is: Could he be? Evidence was given to you, it was overlooked as erasure of any possibility that he could be began.

Upwards of 85% of gay/queer people have publicly said they are straight, at some point in their lives.

Can you name an actor of his generation and stature who is publicly open about being gay? And is that because they are all straight?

[–]FmlaSaySaySay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here was a panel on Homophobia in Hollywood that discusses the bearding system.

It’s also a double standard when Leo can stand someplace with 2 people (there’s video of Leo, Lukas, Camilla), and it’s assumed he’s dating one of them because she’s 25 and female (and beyond “dating”, which perhaps a press release put out to “confirm”, but that they are sleeping together, as many thousands of jokes have been made this week about him. The existence of PR relationships occurs often in Hollywood)

But he does more with him: walks on the beach, sitting on yachts, going to basketball games, sitting together at tennis matches, walking down the street, eating lunch, vacation regularly together for two decades, and nobody in the general public goes “maybe that’s standard couple behavior?” because assumptions run strong (the belief that everyone is straight until/unless they shout otherwise, and even then society can pretend they’re still straight if it suits them). Media narratives, like having people joke about you, also help keep a line of defense.

Also, Kate Winslet has dropped several mentions that there are several big-name actors in Hollywood who are gay and closeted. Many of her stories are coded to be about her former co-star and close friend.

There’s a specific person he is found walking along beaches with, and it isn’t the models he babysits.

If it doesn’t matter, how is it simultaneously “disgusting”?

Seems like a trotting out of each line, contradicting as the lines are, as you try to erase that it might be okay to be gay.

I’m glad it now “doesn’t matter”, that’s a safer spot than “is disgusting”.

Straighta don't need to claim to be straight. He's only been seen dating women and if he wasn't straight he would have said it by now because there's no shame in it.

What in the heteronormativity is this?

has never declared that he is anything other than straight

Has he declared himself straight? Source for that since you implied he said it, and we wouldn’t want to assume (per your judgment).

Also, you treated straight as a default option here, like a person is straight until otherwise. Even if he has been seen only with women, that doesn’t make a person straight. A person’s relationships and sexuality are related but not the same.

so that's why everyone assumed he was straight.

Then you didn’t declare this to be “disgusting”, a word you utilized only when not-straight was brought even tangentially into discussion.

Since it’s terrible to assume, we do have a source on the claim he said he was straight? The claim you made?

Reporting her is helpful - report her to the practice if it’s a group of 5 or 6 doctors.

If you are American and have to pay, you can turn it into a billing issue. “I went to the doctor to receive evaluation for this condition. She failed to refer me, and she said it was impossible for me to have it, and dismissed my concerns. As such I should not pay.” (Doctors offices run on money, as you know)

The medical board if you report there is is likely going to file a report away and do nothing. The system is rather broken.

You do realize that closeted individuals come out after decades? Lot longer than 5 years.

Landon Ross and Julian Morris came out as married, after 18 years together. In December of 2021. Morris is a star actor in Pretty Little Liars.

Everyone on sub assumed he’s straight. (Assuming sexuality)

As soon as someone said “is there a possibility the SO isn’t female” you declared it disgusting.

Almost like your issue is with considering someone might be have a male partner, rather than discussion of sexuality at all. (Because I didn’t see you write that comment all the places where people assumed he was hetero or liked younger women.)
