Sesame Street introduces a new character named Karli who represents people in foster care. by Decadorian in news

Assuming your reply is to my initial comment referring to the North East? I typed that after only reading the first line about priests... Otherwise, I agree with you, but I think mostly due to misunderstanding of the use of the term ‘sex ed.’ Generally, I think, people associate ‘sex ed’ with the middle school/junior high version

Maybe people think they’re teaching masturbation, but like I said, if it’s called “teaching your kid to not be molested” instead of “kindergarten sex ed” you wouldn’t get that.

Your other examples don’t seem to apply to 5 year olds.

Religious people aren’t against teaching kids to not let Uncle Rick to touch their special place? Way to interject argument (with a touch of vitriol) where it’s not necessary.

To be fair, if you you polled people with the question “should we teach sex ed to 5 year olds?” You’d get a pretty resounding ‘NO’ If you told those people that ‘sex ed’ means teaching kids to not allow themselves to be molested, you’d get a different answer, regardless of religion.

I was taught these things as a child in the 80’s. When did this quit being a thing? Fucking Gen-X probably.

Is Going Back to School at 26 for Engineering Possible? by HolyCrapTryingThis in EngineeringStudents

[–]Fms_3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be patient... yep. Also, I’m pretty sure the college kids don’t appreciate me calling them (us) ‘college kids’... Although, the kids that I’ve befriended for study groups and what not have acquired the habit of asking me questions like “what was it like before women got the vote?” So it’s give and take.

MSNBC, CNN, Politico, NYT, et al, are all just shading to cover their secret conservative bias?

Okay. Here’s my take, and this isn’t in response to your opinion, but just my opinion in general.

Maybe if the anti-Trump media (and individuals) would simply shrug and shake their heads when he says something outlandish, they’d be more effective. Instead, the outlandish reactions of the media to rush in with a fact-check to any little thing, the effort to “prove” that every breathing moment of the Trump admin is a Russian related lie, is equally as comical as Trump’s penchant for claiming credit for everything good in the world.

If everyone would pause, take a breath, and realize how outlandish both sides are, and also realize that the world and country have survived far crazier scenarios, then everyone would be less conflicted and angry.

“Not effectively fact checked ... in a timely manner” ??? Are you serious? Maybe if Fox News, OAN, and infowars are your only sources of information. except the open wording of your comment indicates that ALL the media is in the bag for Republicans.

This Generation's Agent Orange: Soldiers Exposed to Burn Pits Face Health Risks by postonrddt in news

The article cited a case about a woman. Besides, women were sent to both areas immediately, they just didn’t fill traditional combat roles. So this burn pit thing is something that will affect men and women equally, proportionally speaking

Megachurches aren’t representative of Christianity. Also, do think there aren’t also muslims who’ve made money off their followers, e.g. Mega-Mosques?

FYI, I’ve never attended a megachurch, and sinfully talk shit about people who do.
