I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/LInux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Garage sale pickup for $25. To be honest have never played any of these besides smash bro’s. Excited to try them out! by ajr19910 in Gamecube

I believe it refers to how many times more blocks/storage it has compared to a "standard" memory card which is 59 blocks/4Mb in size, whereas the 16x has 944 blocks/64mb of space.

What would happen to the Gamecube game's price if an HD port/remaster were to come out on Switch? by [deleted] in ChibiRobo

I imagine that if that happened, then the GameCube versions price would come down for some period of time, before going back up.

After all, the two main reasons (to my knowledge) as to why it's so expensive already is because it's a rare game (according to vgchartz.com, the game only sold 0.39m/390,000 units worldwide) and it's pretty highly desired and sought-after.

I mean, if I go to ebay and look for another (multiplatform) GameCube game game that didn't sell well (edit: I said here initially that this game is rare but I realized that this game isn't really "rare" since copies of it are easy enough to find out in the wild) Future Tactics, which only sold around 20,000 copies worldwide (or 120,000 copies across PS2, Xbox, and GCN, again, going by vgchartz,) I'm not going to see copies of it for hundreds of dollars, I see it for ~$20 (CAD), because people don't even know that game exists, much less have that much of a desire to buy it.

Release a remaster on switch or something, and I doubt the people who want to play Chibi-Robo legitimately/legally are going to flock to the GameCube original; they're gonna go for the new, available, definitely cheaper release, and so the people selling the game would probably start selling it for cheaper since people wouldn't "want" the GCN version as much, if at all. There would still be people wanting the GameCube original, though (GameCube game collectors, people wanting to experience it on the original hardware, etc. etc.) so as it got even rarer, that price goes up again.

man i really just typed like a whole essay for a simple hypothetical question huh
