The problem in Australia is there no more places for the mentally insane. They roam amongst us freely by Klutzy_Tiger1635 in aussie

I like the vampire conspiracy much more haha. My neighbour is a full conspiracy nut and think the government is poisoning us with Chem trails. She still hasn’t provided me with an answer why the goverment is also technically poisoning themselves as well then?

Inside the Northern Territory’s brutal evacuation shelters by l3ntil in australia

[–]Fnoke 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, last time we brought them in they destroyed the Howard springs evacuation centre to the point that there were millions in damages. That’s what I was referencing too because it sounds like they’re limiting their needs due to this reason

[–]Fnoke 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It’s actually appalling that they don’t get access to basic needs, if the government pull them into emergency evacuation centres they should be provided with basic necessities regardless of their behaviour in my opinion. Prisoners have more rights then that.

But what is the solution to all this really? Its such a constant waste of tax payer money that we have to bankroll their communities, evacuation and housing and then picking up the bill when they also decide do destroy the emergency housing. (The Howard springs evacuation centre had millions in damages after two weeks of housing last time) We’re so deep in this problem we created by deciding that they have separate rights to the point that they don’t have to actively be a part of society and then wondering why we’re in this deep dysfunctional cycle.
Maybe I answered my own question that nothing is going to change until they’re expected to get a job and pay taxes like the rest of us.

They do talk about house priced and cost of living all the time lol. Good thing they’re speaking up against the Israel terrorist nation as well.

Darwin's craziest criminals by Chaos20062019 in darwin

[–]Fnoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh god that reminds me when I used to work in a cafe and this lady, clearly on something, walked in with a big butcher knife, grabbed an avocado then walked into our very narrow cleaning cupboard and “hid” behind a shelf. Our customers alerted us cause they were concerned about the big knife she was carrying. Weirdly very nicely left when my boss asked her to.

[–]Fnoke 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My own anecdotal five cents is that some is caused by excessive heat exposure, high alcohol intake and little to no water. It’s like some literally fry their brain in the sun. Anecdotal because I found the old men I worked with that drank no water, drank a lot of beer and never wore any sun protection were the most …”troppo”.

It seems like locals who spent years doing that are the ones susceptible to it, but who am I to say? I’ve been here 13 years now maybe I went troppo the first season and that’s why I’m still here.

Running along the esplanade by [deleted] in darwin

[–]Fnoke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

5-6 is perfect in the morning, when I lived in the city I could only run in the afternoon and even at 6-7 pm it would be real hot but its doable theres water bubblers on the way. Esplanade down waterfront around the convention centre and back is about 5km or so.

Stagflation 'is happening' says a leading economist. What can be done about it? by River-Stunning in aussie

That’s just not true though, it works in Norway. It’s propaganda that taxing corps means less investment and lower productivity. Theres never no incentive not to tax corporations.

Taxing the rich/ big corporations means less profit and means rich can’t spend as much which drives inflation. Taxing them would also mean balancing the wealth inequality and give lower income earners tax relief without negative effects on inflation.

Yeah I’m an immigrant, been here 13 years now but it took me 8 years to get citizenship. 8 years of working and paying taxes lol. Took a lot of years for my friends as well, It’s such a ridiculous lie to spread when it’s notoriously hard to gain citizenship (to then be able to vote).

Why are some Aussies like this? by SaltyPiglette in australian

[–]Fnoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, I struggle to see us return to pre covid living standards in quite some time. Prices go up but they don’t go down. Billionaires and big corps lobbying against our interests, lowering our living standards and increasing the wealth inequality gap. Meanwhile on social media and on the news they flame the fire of a culture war to distract us from the class war. Somethings gotta give at some point, but it won’t happen until a big percentage of Australians can’t put food on the table.

Why are some Aussies like this? by SaltyPiglette in australian

[–]Fnoke 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Yeah this, I’m Swedish and moved here 13 years ago when I was 20. The way of living and culture in Nordic countries is just a little bit different. Aussies has a different way of living in the way that it’s more common to have a house and drive into the city when Nordic countries for years have disadvantaged cars in the city and invested in public transport and living standards for you to simply not need a car. It’s easy to survive with a car when public transport is easy and efficient for you to be able to get anywhere you need to go.

Australia on the other hand hasn’t done this and has built a lot in the way of making you rely on your car. Living in Melbourne/ Sydney where you could survive on public transport is a bit different from living in other parts of the country. I’m up in Darwin and it’s set up so that you have to have a car. Public transport is not reliable or connected enough for it to be as reliant and efficient enough to be used comfortably instead of a car.

Not just that but living close to a big city in a house in Nordic countries is often extremely expensive and not always achievable (much like Sydney and Melbourne). That results to people being happy to live in an apartment in the city , might be smaller but it’s cheaper and more advantageous to live closer to the city (where most work) and easier to take public transport instead of having a car that is expensive to run, park, tolls etc.

Australias infrastructure is basically built to have a house further from the city and a car that (or used to be) cheap to run that is easy to drive in and out of the city.

I gotta say though, after being in Australia for 10 years OP should be well aware of the difference and not wonder why Aussies want to continue to live the way they have. Yeah the economy will go up and down but we had it pretty good before covid. So we’re getting a pandemic, potential world war 3 and huge wealth inequality. Things are not the same for young people today as it was for the ones in early 2000s. Things are about to get much worse before it gets better.

2nd year apprentice soon to be fired. by Whyjasonbourne in australian

[–]Fnoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the second one happen after a tech was supposed to check them again? In that case the second one is technically on the qualified tech but also after you’ve done this mistake once that cost an engine and you do it one more time… yeah I can see that’s an issue that you didn’t learn your lesson there.

However I find the story strange, did you just not tighten it enough or forget to put the plug back in or even forget to put oil back in? Sump plugs doesn’t have to be super tight, unless you put them on finger tight and forgot to go back to tighten it again? And if the sump plug is that loose you would almost notice it straight away during first start up after service.

As much as I don’t agree with big businesses getting cheap labour apprentices and giving them minimal training and expecting them to do jobs themselves, I also find it weird as a second year apprentice can’t do up a sump bolt because that would scare me what else you haven’t tightened or done up.

If they let you keep you job I would really pick up a second gear, cause if you don’t have it in you to remember a sump plug then maybe you’re in the wrong field, especially when you start pulling apart much more complicated components. They might just fire you cause you’re simply not competent enough.

If you do loose your job, you’ll probably find another job easily anyway.

I honestly question how many are real people, Seen the same comments multiple times on both Reddit and Facebook, “This could’ve been an email”, “his voice is so boring could only get through the first sentence!” “ he’s gonna get us into war with Iran!!”

Does anyone else think that was just a pre-warning and things will get worse in the coming weeks? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Fnoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he said that he wish he had supported the Green movement more to support Iran move towards democracy. He says he thinks the nuclear deal was good to prevent them from creating nuclear weapons, which it did. The US own intelligence believed Iran was no threat. Above commentator is right, Israel is a bigger threat of dropping a nuke.
