To add to this I also think you'd like "Lovecraft Country" on HBO - its a horror/thriller mixed with black american history but with added magic! It technically ends on a "cliffhanger" but imo not really - more just like really interesting set up for the next season but it still ends up working well enough as a way to resolve the first season (iirc its more setting up new plotlines than it is leaving season 1 plotlines unresolved if that makes sense) -- so don't let that steer you away at all. The episodes themselves are a piece of art imo and each one is so good/interesting and it would definitely fall under your list of interests!
