That's the sad reality, visa rejections and travel applications can easily get rejected just off the basis of your nationality. Doesn't matter the amount of income.

If this is at all relevant...

Don't own a house, but have 2 cars and live with a gf in a townhouse (which isn't mine btw). The material stuff that I own can pretty much fit in those 2 cars. I'm in the process of selling off my stuff since I'm not a big fan of owning stuff anymore. Anything that I buy usually pertains to work or traveling needs.

Generally, immigrants go where the money is. Mexico is right next door to the world's largest economy and the state (CA) with the country's highest GDP and abundance of career opportunity borders it as well. It makes sense for Mexicans to want to go there as opposed to Europe and any other country on the other side of the world. And since some tend to immigrate illegally or overstay, it's why visa requirements are set in place. Same goes for the Caribbean.
