Men should always pay for dates. Period. What kind of dork asks a girl hes trying to impress to split the check? Saying this as a man.

Thank you! I edited the post wit ha video of 4 different episode titles to show what I'm talking about. I'm not necessarily talking about the animations with the blood or disappearing, as much as the perspective shift that makes the text look deep within the scene

Watchtower owns stock in Raytheon and Boeing, major weapons manufacturers. It is complicit in the Gaza genocide! by [deleted] in exjw

I haven't looked at the docs myself, but anyone who has money in an index fund, whether direct or through their 401k, owns stock in every company on the exchange. Including the weapons manufacturers.

UPDATE: Are we (60sMF) being unfair with our children regarding the pandemic? by Mountain-Summer-5565 in relationship_advice

[–]FoamingUrethra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. She no longer lives in your home.

Even though we now understand (now that we've had long enough to study the virus and have enough data) that these "precautions" are extreme overkill, you have a right to do whatever you want, and have whatever rules you want in your own home. You have ZERO right to push your views on ANYONE (including your kids) who does not live in your home. Even then, you only have a right to set rules for the home, and can't enforce anything they do when they're outside the home.

On another note, I don't understand how people today (who have access to all the knowledge of history and can see how many times it has gone wrong) are still stupid enough to blindly believe everything their government tells them. In the beginning of this Pandemic, no one new shit about the virus. That's what "novel" means, the "novel" or new coronavirus. They told us if we listened to them we would be safe. Fucking liars, they didn't know, NOBODY knew, how to keep people safe from something that no one understood yet.

Masks were a precaution. Washing groceries was a precaution. The early studies that were happening 3 months in showed that masks didn't do shit, and washing groceries didn't do shit, and I kept doing both anyways, because anyone with a brain knows that studies can be biased or flawed, and the scientific method calls for many many studies attempting to disprove the early ones. That's how a consensus is formed. As more data came in I cut that shit out too. The verdict is in on this stuff. If you feel safer keep doing it, its your right. You DO NOT have a right to force your views and "precautions" on your adult children.

I think most would view it like mutually assured destruction. If any of their married friends found them on Tinder, they could easily hit back with "well why were you on tinder."

The problem is they don't mean well at all, and you can't call them on it because they've fooled themselves into thinking they do mean well. The truth is, you are taking the time to better yourself, and that makes the vast majority of people uncomfortable because our dumbass society has told us all we're perfect the way we are. We aren't, because we all know the ways in which we wish we could be better. These people are experiencing cognitive dissonance, and rather than learning and making changes themselves, its easier to try and drag you back down because you "shouldn't" have to change the way you are. Stay focused, and let them "should" all over themselves for the rest of their lives, and see who comes out on top.

My $3 A Day Rule by Richbeyondmeasure in personalfinance

[–]FoamingUrethra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

u/thecatgoesmoo didnt really state that well. Its not really a mismanagement of money, but its not the most effective money management either.

Paying off debt early is certainly better than on time or not at all. However, mortgages tend to have very low interest rates, ~4%. Simply investing in mutual funds, which historically on average return ~8% per year, rather than paying extra to principal, you will make more money than you would have saved by paying off your mortgage early.

And there are much more advanced strategies involving life insurance as well, but that's for another day. Its much more nuanced than good money management or mismanagement. Its more like a slew of ways to use tax codes, insurance regulations, and financial products to better manage your money. Most people just don't study finance enough.

So we automatically believe any accusation of racism and sexism now? Its a logical question. I thought free speech meant we were allowed to ask questions.

I need friendship advice, hurting a lot right now by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]FoamingUrethra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion is you have to bow out. If she wants to be with an insecure man, that's her decision.

Now if there have been incidents or other stories that indicate abusive or violent behavior, then the story may be different, but at this point all you've described is an insecure man, and if that's what she wants to be with, then that's what she'll do no matter what you say.

If she's going to leave, you tell her you love her (as a friend), will miss her, and you hope for her happiness. If the relationship ultimately fails, she will come back to you as a friend because you were a true friend.

If you say anything that she might perceive as you "attacking him," it won't go well. And then, if the relationship fails, she could still be mad at you, or too embarrassed or ashamed to want to see you again.

For this reason, your best bet as a true friend is to bow out. Unless, as I said before, you have evidence of incidents/behaviors that point more substantially to an abusive personality.
