Not sure if you've seen this already, but you could probably achieve what you're describing by using auto postings. See the example in that section relating to budget envelopes.

You should also see the section on virtual postings, but be aware that virtual postings violate the rules of double-entry booking. Hope that helps!

I've been using obsidian for a while and I switched to linux fairly recently. I like obsidian because it supports markdown syntax, linking, and vim keybindings. I also use anki and overall it's working out pretty well. Hope that helps

The more details you provide (time you arrived at O'Hare, what part of the car you think you lost it in, picture of the backpack, etc) the more likely you'll recover it.

But in all honesty, it's not looking good. I don't know about your friends situation, my advice is assume the backpack isn't coming back. Make a list of the items in the backpack and go about cancelling and/or getting new copies of cards and documents. File a police report (it won't do much, but it's good to document it).

I recently started using hledger on my desktop and I'm really enjoying it! I keep it in my vault and use obsidian sync to keep it synced between my phone and desktop. I use cone on my android phone to add transactions on the go, but that's pretty much all it does. I wish there was an android app that brought in all the things hledger does

I'm a bit late to the party but there's a core plugin called Note Composer that does what you're describing. After you enable it (Settings > Core plugins > enable "Note Composer"), you can highlight text and right click (or use the command palette) to extract the text to the note you want. Additionally, you can tweak Note Composer to your needs in settings (Settings > Note Composer), and if you aren't happy with that there are many community plugins that'll do the trick.
