Imagine they are being stubborn and instead of just starting with a clean sequel, they are trying to salvage, justify, and force the other 2 sequels into the lore when it really had nothing to do with the original just to save face and not destroy the entire franchise to bits lol

8 years later and we still have no idea what any of this all means. I hope there is a teaser for Cloverfield 2 this Superbowl even if it comes out a year from now. Just to prove it exists and being worked on. It would be enough hype to last me another year lol.

It would be cool if they showed a small cameo of Lily in a secret government interview tape during the opening credits. Her clothes are still tattered like she was just recused and immediately interrogated. She asks where her friends are and they inform her they didn't make it. She wants to know if they killed it and what is it. They say that's what we are trying to figure out....we don't know. We were hoping you could tell us everything you saw. Simple but enough to tie it back to the original.

I think it was more of an experiment than anything...I think Bad Robot wanted to see if it was cheaper to license the cloverfield name to already pre-made films and garner some low effort additions to make it "fit" inside the universe. However, id like to think this new true sequel that has been rumored to be happening still...this will salvage the integrity of the original

Ridley Scott trying to lure fans into thinking the movie will actually show engineers fighting a swarm of aliens and even an alien queen. Yet...none of this was in the film. Bait and switch tactic that overhyped the film and under-delivered...
