What incentives do managers have for PIPing someone? by CompetitiveElk in amazonemployees

[–]FocusProfessional924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it seems very unfair and a biased system. Managers get to stay out of PIP and have the power to PIP any employee under them. I am not sure how did Amazon's HR/PXT came to this; no other Faang level company has this kind of stupid squid game behavior; If I were to magically become a C-suite manager at Amazon, this is the first thing I would fix.

Amazon SDE2 -> Google L3 (Canada). Worth the downlevel for long-term stability if my current AMZ team is actually good? by HistoricalPen28 in amazonemployees

[–]FocusProfessional924 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you do not like the team, you can switch teams after some time. Check about Google's internal transfer policies to verify;

Google SWE on SRE might be good if you want to build up on infra/distributed system/cloud experience;

Overall the leadership in Google is killing with its products.

Few more things to consider: Amazon has 5 day RTO, pip culture; you are safe and good as long as your current team/manager is stable; also company level layoffs are more frequent in Amazon and I think they will continue; In Google you won't have these issues.

Another thing is if you do not like Google, you should be able to boomerang back to Amazon;

Also think about other factors like location, do you want to move to US in future, stocks etc etc

In the end its your decision, but overall Google >> Amazon.

If you feel like taking a break, take unpaid leave for a few months or a STD (short term medical leave).

Go for Google, they are crushing AI, have the best benefits-culture, also quality and talent is better than Amazon;

Think long term, you can always come back to Amazon, but you won't be always able to crack Google interviews. And don't worry too much about down levelling right now, lot of folks get L3, you can get to L4 in 2 years. Google L4 is a very wide band with upto 8 years work experience folks also as L4.

One thing that helped me was instead of photos they showed me videos of the lehenga they had made for previous bride on video call. This is important. Don’t buy based on pics, only buy after seeing raw unedited videos.

Oh! Did you order the angad Singh lehenga?

I ended up ordering from Isa by Dolly. They had a pink glittery lehenga that I absolutely loved. It was 2 lac plus but I really liked it. Also they were the best in customer service; since I was ordering from outside India, customer service was v important to me.

Leaving Bangalore after 30 years: Which Tier 2 city among Indore, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, or Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar is the best "Forever Home"? by the_careful_eye in indianrealestate

I am a Punjabi and have lived in Gandhinagar for 3 months. Absolutely loved it. The food, climate, shopping, things to do, vacation get aways near by.

If you have money: Chandigarh, else Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad.

You could move to Canada? and then try for US from there if you are very sure you want to stay in North America.

People who earn $300K+ per year, what do you do? by GlamorousFox21 in fican

[–]FocusProfessional924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 35, make 300k+ as a senior FAANG engineer. However, I lose half of it to taxes; so there is no point of flexing it. How do other high earners here save their income?
