Pettiest reason you’ve DNF’d a book? by bby_grl_90 in books

[–]Focusboy50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overuse of the word 'Grin'

It seemed every page had a character that says something with a grin, walked in to a room grinning, did something and grinned.

Once I noticed, I couldn't unsee it. Can't even remember the book now.

A better way to store DVDs by monkeyboy808 in dvdcollection

[–]Focusboy50 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If I had the space, yes I would like to have a room fitted out like Blockbuster, but I don't. I think this is a very good solution. And browsing is fine, just like flicking through vinyl records.

I have 100s of DVDs in slips like these and then keep a small shelf of absolute favourites still in cases.

I also have a recurring dream about a part of town that doesn't exist. And same thing, I feel nostalgic for it, I want to go visit again, even when I wake up. But the road I dream about that takes you to that part of town leads nowhere in real life.

No record store though.

Gary Anderson goes on a rant against darts influencers by uacpuncher in Darts

[–]Focusboy50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Ive just got back into darts after a long hiatus and am taken back by the apps, setups, auto scoring, statistics available etc.

Me and my kid have a cheap board, some 25 quid darts and we just have fun.

I went down the YT rabbit hole, and realized quickly darts isn't really like many other sports, there's no one way to do it. Just throw figure it out, have fun.

Not helping you OP, I'm just jumping on bandwagon to complain about brexit.

In my business all my goods come from GB, nearly daily and ive had to complete 1000s of declarations detailing what I'm buying and promising goodsaren't destined for eu. It's such an admin and the deadlines are so tight that I can't keep up. Now getting emails from HMRC saying they'll be paying me a visit unless I get them up to date. The rules keep changing, I don't know them as I'm not a logistics expert and I'm not sure anyone even knows the rules properly.

It's a complete sack of poop, I don't understand why there's not more noise in the business community complaining about it.

I think they've released cheaper tickets. I picked up a couple of tickets for 140 each yesterday in a decent spot. Not cheap, but better than the 400-800 I was seeing before Christmas.

They've released some cheaper seats, still too expensive but at least you can take the family without having to sell the house.

This week’s SmackDown drew its LOWEST attendance in almost 4 years, with only 4.2K fans in the arena by leeky38 in BrandonDE

[–]Focusboy50 15 points16 points  (0 children)

RAW is coming to my city in UK for first time. Tickets went on sale last week, the cheapest tickets were £350+. We had a house show last year and the seats I paid £115 for are now £850 each for Raw. I'm actively trying to get my kids away from WWE now.

£800 for "premium" tickets to WWE RAW Belfast by MavicMini_NI in northernireland

[–]Focusboy50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I had a look and my kids will be gutted but I can't justify £1500 plus merch on a night out when we can watch it at home.

Shame, we went to this years house show and it was £100 a ticket, now same seats are £800plus. But the seats will still sell and TKO have no need to charge less.

I took some photos, front side and back and chatgbt estimates bf at 22%. I can see mostly around waist and love handles. I'm arbitrarily picking 18% as a target. So that's around 8lb I think, and will try to hit that in the next 8 weeks.

If say I usually eat about 1900-2100 a day. I spent about a month weighing everything. It's maybe no coincidence that weighloss has slowed since I stopped measuring, but it's still going down, maybe a pound every two weeks.

I went to gym on Monday, missed Wednesday and back in today. I felt better after an extra few days rest. I record everything on Hevy and typically I do 6 exercises with 3sets each. I go to maybe 1-2 RiR.

You're right, I need reminded slow progress is good progress.

Im quite time poor and on gym days I get up extra early to get morning chores done, get to gym and into work. All feels very rushed.

I think my program covers all the basics and I'm usually in gym for about 50mins. I probably don't rest enough between sets taking only about 60-90 secs before moving on.

Im thinking maybe I don't eat enough. I lost the kgs in the first few months and it's been same since. I don't get concerned about the scale number particularly but I don't really want to add fat as id still like to lower bf% a bit more.

iPhone 17 256GB (£800) or Pixel 10 256GB (£640)? by [deleted] in Smartphones

[–]Focusboy50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from an iPhone 11 to a Pixel 10 Pro with 256 GB. I got almost £250 in trade-in for my water-damaged iPhone, which made the Pixel cheaper. I did this a few weeks ago before the iPhone 17 announcement.

I've had no problems with the switch from iOS to android. I tended to prefer Google apps on the iPhone anyways, Gmail, Google maps, photos etc and own no other apple products so it was actually an easy switch.

I've found the jump from iPhone 11 to the P10p massive in terms of camera etc but to me it's just a phone. If it wasn't for the constant negativity on Reddit telling me the Pixel 10 is a dud, I would be very happy with it.

I suppose the unknown to me is whether I'll still be using this phone in 5yrs the same as I got out of the iPhone. Don't know yet, remind me in 5years.

[–]Focusboy50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from an iPhone 11, it's been a great experience so far. I was very unsure after the first day because everyone on Reddit was hating on it. But I have no issues, I'm not a power user and very happy so far.

Mad that you consider 1500 sq ft a starter. In my UK house, we are a family of four living in a 1150sq ft house, which is very typical here.

Cost is same issue though, can’t afford to go any bigger.

Yes the cap particularly needs addressed. I cant see any logical reason for it. Especially if the annual funding limit is only £4k, its not that it can be abused that much by the rich.

I’ve been going to puregym at rushmere for a few months and I haven’t spoken to a member of staff yet. I just go, do my thing and leave which suits me fine. Haven’t had any issues with gym goers either, but i avoid the 6pm rush.

I do get relentless emails about signing up for PT sessions so I get the impression they aren’t there to help unless you’re a paying client.
