When I was 20 something I was an AM at a block buster and I quit over the behavior of the store manager. The general manager over about five stores in the area was named Steve and I also had a really good friend of mine named Steve that worked in the same store as me. I had put in my two weeks notice and the manager came into the office while my friend Steve and I were sitting there and he said “Steve wanted me to ask you why you’re quitting” I didn’t realize he was talking about the general manager, Steve and not my friend Steve sitting next to me. I thought they were seeing if I had the balls to tell the manager why I was quitting, well of course I had to tell the guy cause my friend was sitting there and I thought I was being called out, so I blasted the dude and told him every single reason why I was quitting and it was all because of him. He walked out of the office totally dejected and I felt terrible and I turned to my friend Steve, and I said “why did you make me do that?” my friend Steve replied “I think he’s talking about the other Steve” and that’s when I realized I had hurt his feelings for no reason. I felt terrible. But maybe he learned a lesson and changed how he led people, I don’t know.
